Help pulling room together!

At a loss on how to pull this room together. Ideally i would like to be able to add 2 comfortable, possibly reclining chairs, as seating is limited. Dining room table is being changed to this and silver pictures are going. Also looking for an area rug to pull it all together. Trying to get a relaxed casual feel to area. Any and all help is appreciated!

I see no purpose to the teal wall

The float shelves do nothing for your space

You have a reclining leather couch, denying you a cocktail table? Yes?

You need a rug.......to anchor the seating area.........

What size rug? No idea, as we would need a drawing of the entire space, and you note all the wall dimensions, door ways, how far from couch the island is located, foyer entry and all.

What are dimensions of NEW dining table?

Not enough context in your question,

Add a jpeg picture, of a drawing you create, neat bold, and all the info of feet and inches as I noted above. Paper and is fine........You need a tape measure,,,, a ruler , and a sharp bold pencil.

Will suggest adding rugs to both the living and dining areas. These will provide an anchor for both areas and you can use colors in the rugs for other elements.

Just guessing without a floor plan but the space looks tight to comfortably add 2 more chairs to the living room area. Do you need the extra 2 chairs on a daily basis or just occasionally for guests? For the latter, perhaps you could pull over the end dining chairs into the living room area when needed?

The trickier area is the dining room. Have you measured the potential new table’s size +chairs+suggested space behind. The chandelier won’t be centered (suggest a linear) and given traffic flow, perhaps an extension table might be a better option.

The blue wall is not doing anything (for the entire room) and the floating shelves are not helping. See room below…flows/connects and feels balanced.

Living room: decide on seating once DR is finished. I have a feeling two chairs + what’s there will be too busy/cramped. If adding two rugs, be sure they work well with each other, measure and don’t go too large. I’d probably only add in LR. Could add tables/lamps at some point, so consider short and long term plans.

Im sorry but the teal accent wall really dates and cheapens your beautiful space.

I like the blue wall. You do need an area rug in your LR. Do you need the chairs for every day or for visitors? If the latter, one way to get more seating in is to have the two end chairs of the dining table do double duty.

    I like your dining set.

I would go with some neutral/warm, cozy wooden accent wall that is matching to your furniture

There is nothing wrong with the teal wall so long as you like it. The trick is to tie it in strategically with other teal elements, as a couple of folks have already suggested, showing examples. On the other hand, if you’re up for a change, now is the perfect time to make it. Some people here hate accent walls of any kind. Others don’t. I think they can work beautifully if all the other elements are in balance.

Thanks to everyone who answered. i probably should have been more specific. i like the blue wall and the floating shelves so they are staying. New table is 72 Inches long (without the leaf) and 40 wide.. I am only getting 4 chairs. Current table is 72 long and 54 wide. There is 6 1/2 feet between the end of the arm of sofa and tv console. There is 50 inches between the back of the sofa and island stools. the current accent chair in the LR is going in another room. While i dont need two extra chairs on a regular basis i do have family stay over often. posting pics of chairs i am considering along with clearer pic of sofa.
