Reversible room conversion, downstairs bedroom to mudroom.

Has anyone done anything like this? Has anyone done this in a way that can still be used as guest space?

On the opposite end of a short hallway from my garage is the downstairs bedroom (not a primary/ensuite) we currently use as a guest bedroom. We’re doing a backyard reno and I had the thought of adding a door to this bedroom connecting to the backyard and converting the space (in a reversible way) to be a mud room dog crate room and some light gardening stoage needs. Our current back door goes directly to our breakfast nook and is always a dirty/muddy nightmare with the kids and dog running in and out.

Ultimately, I figured when we go to resell (if we do) it can be presented as a bedroom or office with private entrance.

Next to the garage is a small mud-nook (can’t even call it a mudroom) that I’d then close in to create a walk-in toy closet to keep toys/games hidden from the very open concept living room/kitchen when we have company.

What are y’all’s thoughts?
