Do you have room for something even longer? Get the most use out of something, rather than specifically for coffee.

I would look for something painted, rather than trying to match cabinetry, so it looks intentional, either black or a color you like.

I would still want a counter space to set the coffee maker, even if the rest of the cabinet is enclosed to protect from dust.

Can you take a picture from a different angle so we can see that whole walls?

A quick fix would be to paint the Ikea piece the same color as the walls.

Can you add a lower cabinet, countertop and upper cabinet to match current ones.? If you don’t like dust, avoid anything black.

Do you need more closed storage or a surface to place the coffee stuff?

Something like this gives you closed storage with just a top for your coffee maker. The glass keeps it from feeling too heavy.

Does Ikea no longer sell these kitchen cabinets? Can you not add an extra base and upper?

I do not like the idea of a singular tall piece of cabinetry. I think it will really make that whole counter run feel closed off and halted.

Could the cabinet maker add another cabinet for you?

Since you don't have a floorplan with dimensions, I'm guessing, but whatever cabinetry in the foreground that is perpendicular to the Ikea shelving unit seems quite close to it. Isn't that a walkway into the kitchen space? I wouldn't put any piece of cabinetry/cupboard there since it appears to create a pinch point.

I'd put the coffee paraphernalia either on the end of the cabinet run and remove the Ikea piece or in the corner where the Kitchenaid is presently (unless you use the mixer daily, it can be stored in a cabinet. I have two KAs and neither are on a counter in view).

@Kendrah - when I quickly read this post, I initially thought the kitchen cabinets were from IKEA - and had the same thought that you did - why not just add more IKEA cabinets?

However, when I read it again, it seems like only the open cart thing that is currently being used for the espresso/coffee maker is from IKEA.

It would look best if the cabinets could be extended - however, that would mean buying a new run of quartz for the countertop (otherwise, there will be a seam).

What you have right now looks eminently practical. Here's an idea: Line the shelves with something waterproof. Then you can quickly clean the shelf liners in your sink, and they can be replaced with very little expense if they wear out or you get bored with them.

Hang a piece of art that you like on the wall above the cart. That will make the space feel finished. If you like theme decoration, try a coffee-themed poster.

I think what you have seems like it is a tight fit and taller furniture may make it feel too tight.

If I didn't want the black base with solid shelves I might change it out to chrome shelving with a butcher block top (no dusting the shelves) and I would reduce the depth to 18 inches. Still pleanty big for the coffee station, but leave a bit more room between the end of the peninsula and the unit.

I would add a nice piece of art over the coffee station.
