Having a hard time finding an entryway rug

last modified: 4 months ago

I’m struggling to find a rug that actually works for my entryway and could use some advice. The space is a little awkward because the front door is off-centered, which makes everything feel a bit tricky to balance.

Most runners I’m finding are in that 2'–2'7" width range, and I’m worried that’ll look too narrow for the space. My front door is 36", and I’ve read that your rug should be at least as wide as the door—does that actually matter in practice?

In my head, the ideal rug would be around 4' wide and 9'–10' long, but that size seems almost impossible to find. I’m not sure if I should keep hunting for something like that or rethink the approach entirely.

If it is important to know, this is not the main entrance the family uses. It is mainly for guests.
