Looking for front light suggestions

Hello. I am looking for a budget-friendly suggestion to update my front light and numbers. What would work and not leave an unsightly mess from the current light and numbers?

We can’t see your house (we see only the garage) so it’s hard to suggest something appropriate. What other exterior lighting do you have?

Are there local guidelines on house number size and placement? Above the garage door might not be your best placement.

Here is the whole house. There are no other lights. There are no bylaws in place. I can certainly move the light and/or the numbers from the center, but then I will have the debris from the current set up.

Will this give me sufficient light if it is the only light?

Sufficiant light for what? The lit numbers certainly give more light than what you have and make your house numbers readable. For me a front door light is more important than a garage light so maybe show us your front entry too.

Explain ”sufficient light.” For what purpose? Is your driveway area dark and you are concerned about safety?

Is the curved-facade tower on the right your house or your neighbor’s house? Where’s your front door? Do you park in the driveway in the dark and then walk a ways to enter the house?

Here are the pictures. The small garden has solar lights in it,

and then there is the lighting in the small entrance

I would mount larger fixtures on both sides of your garage door, if possible. Mess? Is that surface brick or ? What is that horizontal black object to the right?

I would put a light that is slightly larger, but, resembles what you already have, exactly like it is now. There is no need to mess around running new wires and then having to patch. The light is in the center, so it should be exactly where it is.

I am concerned that if I go for a larger light, the numbers will then be crowded out.

KLaurence, the mess I am referring to is the debris that will be left if I take out the centre light. FYI, the horizontal bar is the remnants of a basketball net that should come down

Do the numbers over the garage door. Install a post light at the beginning of the walkway.

Do yourself a favor - you have massive brick - thus....you need lighting on both sides of the garage.

Sometimes solar lights are not sufficent so consider hardwired going towards the front door.

Floodlights with a motion detector are perfect for garage lighting.

Your garage door is wide enough I would suggest having two fixture above it or two fixtures on the wall between the edge of the garage door and the edge of the wall.

Your current single small garage light fixture looks undersized. Does it provide enough light?

Consider painting the red garage trim and the downspouts a color closer to the color of the brick or garage door. Pots on the patio will look great but using 4 of the same pots will look better imo than the mix of 3 different pot kinds that you currently have..

Consider moving the house numbers to the right. You can get a lightbulb for these lanterns that goes on dusk to dawn. If you have the budget, I agree it would look more balanced to have a light on each side of the garage door, then the house number could remain in the middle.

I think your garage door should be a dark gray similar to what you see below.

A lantern with moustach brackets would fit the architecture of your home better IMO.

    Move the address numbers elsewhere.
