It's a classic - I've long favored a simple shell top.

On me, the hem hits just below the hips. I'm around 5'5"

I’m 5’6 but very shortwaisted. I like tops not tucked in to just hit my waist, so I have almost everything in that category hemmed.

My mom did that too, but she was 5'2"

I'm confused what size to get though. I'm also 5'5", 36 or 38B (only because I have a larger rib cage). I usually get a medium in tops but you both got small. @carolb_w_fl_coastal_9/10 did you try it on in the store?

Didn't try it on, just held it up against my body and checked length/width. Length on me is very like that shown in the lt blue photos.

I have a few Style and Company. While I agree to the thickness, after a few washing they seem to lose their shape. Instill wear them, but as what I call house clothes.

FWIW, this fabric isn't thick. I don't know the exact term for the type of knit, but it's made with a very smooth yarn, unlike most cotton t-shirts, which tend to be fuzzier, and it has a very, very fine ribbing to it.
