I have the Hourglass Vanish translucent finishing powder and it's fine. I may slightly prefer the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush powder. I use so little powder that I have plenty now but will give the Ambient powder a try next time.

I also have the Hourglass Voyeur gel eyeliner for water line application when I glam up with a smokey eye. Which, in reality, is never. I have been using the Victoria Beckham eyeliner which I prefer for most days.

I use very little powder as well, Rubyclaire, and probably will never use up this compact. I was just so surprised by it that I wondered why I’ve never heard of it—never seen the first ad. When I googled the name the liquid blush videos popped up and I want to try it. I use Merit right now but have ised everything from Charlotte Tillbury to Elf and have never found anything I could love.

Please excuse my ignorance all, but what is the purpose of powder?

I use it sometimes to set any undereye concealer/brightener I might use and a light application in my t-zone if I think it is necessary.

Yes to setting the concealer and also a cream blush. I don’t use foundation per se but rather a tinted moisturiser (SPF 46) that leaves one’s face very ….. dewy. I put on concealer and blush, then put a bit of the powder over the whole face. It tones down the moist look very nicely, And then i use a setting spray that kind of melts everything together and dries. It sounds like a lot when describing it but the whole thing takes about 20 minutes, including the serum and underneath moisturizer I start with and then a clear SPF 35, all before the tinted stuff goes on.

I will just jump in and add: I recently bought a Clinique powder that has 18 spf. It is perfect for adding a little extra coverage on top of my tinted moisturizer (45 spf) for my nose scars and of course the added sun protection…I need all the spf I can get after this last year! It lasts very well, too, and has provided the best scar coverage I’ve found so far. Hm, I didn’t notice it’s a ”foundation”…I don’t use it that way.

I've been using the Hourglass Ambient Foundation-a very light touch...I really like it. I also have a few of their Phantom Glossy Balm for the lips...I like the sheer look in the summer.

After watching the rest of the video from @SofiaSeesBeauty (link), I am tempted to try the mascara and thr powder. In the video she discusses the 5 best and worst of Hourgass products. She is 34 and seems very down to earth and it was easy to listen to her.

Iused a Laura Mercier pressed powder for several years called Candlelight but it has been discontinued. The Hourglass powder reminds me of it in a way. I have been trying a loose powder from Jones Road after doing a chat consult with one of their reps. The JR is a very fine powder and it’s pink, which I would have never thought to use, but I like it a lot. Much like kswl, I tap it on with a brush very lightly after applying tinted moisturizer. It does exactly what kswl described and cuts down the stickiness of the tinted moisturizer and the shiny parts like my forehead and t-zone. It does make you think your skin is glowing rather than looking too thick and matte with makeup.

In addition to reducing the sheen from my sunscreen, setting powder is the only thing the makes my pores look much smaller. It gives my face a much smoother look.
