Every turf I've seen gets hot and worse, becomes a haven for snakes in areas like yours.

Maybe consider an alternative.

You can always piece in the artifical turf between the pavers.

You can install strips of the turf between the pavers.

Artificial turf in Arizona is going to get hot - that is pretty much inescapable. But there are some manufacturers that have developed AT that is significantly more heat resistant than most brands. Essentially, it has to do with the composition of the AT fibers, its surface treatment and the spacing material. It can achieve as mch as a 20 degree reduction in the surface temperature. At least it would be walkable in bare feet.

btw, they would have to be pretty puny snakes to successfully hide in something as shallow as AT and that never grows taller. That would not even be on my list of concerns.

The snakes burrow under the turf, not in it.
