Sorry, I meant to vote for the #1, the top butterscotch color, which echoes your walls and the art work. (I mistakenly voted for #2 but can't undo it.) Get a wood tray that matches the base of the ottoman.

It's hard for design-minded people to consider just one element of a room, so I'd like to add some other suggestions for a more connected, holistic space:

--The wreath on your focal point fireplace looks tired. Consider adding a seascape with the gray blue of your sailboat art and the rusty red of the bricks. This palette:

Consider spiffing up the sofa pillows with a palette of blues, rust, gray:

Declutter the hearth with just a plant in front of each window, lamp in the corner of the hearth, and everything else relocated elsewhere.

See your other post - you have accidentally created 3 posts with different number of choices on each post. I voted on the post with the most choices.

I’m not sure what happened but when I tried to post it kept saying it couldn’t post at this time. I was surprised to see that I had replies yo a post I didn’t think had worked. Thank you!

housegal200, thank you for your feedback. I so agree about the wreath, too small and very tired. Have been looking for an ocean sunset painting for a while. Hopefully good things will come with time.

Check out to seascape art prints on society6.com. They're affordable, done by individual artists for society6, and can be ordered in many sizes. Get a good sized print.

@Maureen's suggestions are perfect. Do something like that along with some decluttering and sofa cushion "fluffing" and you're good to go.

Consider using what is called ‘visual weight balance’. lighter colors can lift and open up the visual balance of room. add pillows sugessted , small lighter colored lamps. remember the weight of the room also means furniture that is not to big for the room. furniture and accent pieces need to be balanced to the scale of the room . not larger to distract or stand out from the entire visual balance the pieces in a room need a cohesiveness in size. add a lighter wall color as well and paint the fireplace a lighter color . all this will open up the room make it look larger simply by addressing the ‘visual weight balance’. note: add a rug under the table & sofa.

Not sure any of your selections are the best choice.

I would lean to a gray or dark taupe as I have created below.

I think the gold wall doesn't work with your carpeting or the sectional. Get a new color for the wall.

Well it will cost as much as a new one so maybe time for a coffee table and 2 smaller foot stools in a nice fabric with some color

Thanks for all your suggestions. Maureen, I love those pillows! Would love to know where I could buy them if available. You probably can't see in the picture but there are tall ceilings with beams in the room. The carpet does need changing, came with the house. Just have not got around to doing. We do like the paint colour and will leave it as is. Still looking for a side table, the table there is acutally my kids old table that held the lamp while we have been looking for something the right size. I would love to try and add the ottoman to my picture in the lighter dunes colour suggested.

Here‘s the pillows’ link but they are expensive.

If you have a HomeSense or Marshalls available, they carry great cushions at very decent prices.

You should look on Amazon for pillow covers. You might need to look some to get the combination you like. Here is one that is similar to one of Maureen pillows. Most of the covers come in a number of sizes and colors once you find the print you like.
