How to transition from the 15" space to full kitchen?

I have the opportunity for a kitchen remodel, and while we have the space to expand we are stuck with the sliding glass door. The wall space allows for a 15" counter/cabinet to butt up against the edge, along the same wall as the rest of the kitchen. We currently have a shallow buffet piece and floating shelves serving as a beverage station in that dead space, but with a remodel we can extend our kitchen out...but how? Things we definitely want to do: ditch the penisula and create an island, and close off the living room walkway and use that space as a walk-in pantry. We have a tentative plan to run a shallow counter up to the wall and just have a full wall essentially marking the "edge" of the actual kitchen; would it look odd to have a double oven stack there?

you have the sunroom /balcony and dining area, all at that top portion of your space . Thats a lot of seating areas collectively..... I woulld not add an island. I would keep the split paths from living room to both dining and into the kitchen. I would simplifiy things w a galley kitchn...in other words straighten out the peninsula and widen the walkway between the two sides. Before you put cabinets at 15 in depth all the way to balcony sliding door , do yourself a favour and calculate exactly how much storage is needed. In any remodel the storage ususally improves and with your long outside wall and adding a new pullout pantry [vertical style] I think a walk in pantry would be less desirable than leaving the passage open.

If you dont need to fill up the wall , all the way to balcony , you get a nice bonus space in that area for a couple reading chairs or something.

Have you considered moving the dining space to where the sunroom is, expand the kitchen into the dining space, and keep the balcony as is?
