Yes there is hope! The stone is bad...sorry!

Depending on the look you're going for, I would stucco or clapboard over the stone.

The stone should be replaced since the value of the waterfront lot is there, so any upgrades you do would hold their values.

I'd work with the stone. Change the pediment over the door to something that echoed the roof of the bay window's roof line and make it taller and larger. Copper or black metal would look good on both. Replace the white pilasters with with heavy timber or iron work brackets to support the larger covering over the door. Paint the door a rich color. Put the planters on either side of the bay window.

Concrete all the way up to the house is sooo bad considering the beautiful water views. Hire a few guys to demo the driveway and have it landscaped with a style that matches better....the house wouldn't look so bad then.

What about the driveway and lack of landscaping?

The stone work should be complemented by a beautiful door so take off the Parthenon decorations and change the door. Give it that typical provincial look with wooden color fittings.

Work with the stone, but add shingles and a narrow porch to have a welcoming entrance. Also build narrow planters for evergreen bushes and maybe some flowers in season. I have attached some inspirational pics. If you look at just the front porch section, it would basically be your whole house. If you double click on the photo it will show the pic better (I just figured this out! lol). It's all pride of place when you drive up to that darling location. By the way, what is your style?

If you look at the house exterior just imagine the house/porch/planting not the walkway. It would be gorgeous to have a cobblestone (or stamped concrete) driveway, very european. And don't forget lighting. One special lantern is all you need for that.

The driveway? Planters, concrete stain. Not a problem- fix the door and window. The entrance is too formal for a stone cottage. You may be able to add a diamond pattern to the window and be ok. Trim should be the color of the mortar.

It's a cute house and actually does have some potential. I would love to do a 3d rendering for you with an updated design that wouldn't cost very much.

I think there is a lot of potential. I would work with a local firm that can coordinate any alterations with zoning and home owner association (as reqd) requirements. I think the stone is problematic, and if it is not featured on any other elevations, that will make updating the facade much easier. To correct the facade, I believe it is important to understand the adjacent interior spaces. I don't know if it is possible, but if there were a way to provide cover for at least one car, that would also be a bonus. Happy Houzzing.
