The doors are beautiful...concerned the dark may clash with your kitchen cabinets in the room next door.

I actually went into home depot and laid different pieces of wood on the floor until we got it looking close....it ended up being chair mould and flat boards door jambs trim and other pieces...

And just on some bragging notes here I guess or a note to say to others to give confidence, my husband, brother and I completed all the renos of the house....check out our bathroom....probably as good as the kitchen...see below this is the first week we got possession of home and the demo started immediately....

This is the now....the only thing different from the pictures is the photo on back of toilet has been removed and antique drawings of mothers bathing children my sister gave to me

I have to say I am partial to your kitchen wall colour. I had something very similar in the 1921 home my husband and I renovated when we were first together. That kitchen just felt happy...and it was the wall colour. Made me smile just walking into the kitchen.

I love the "fall" colours and orange is my favorite...I painted it in my upstairs bathroom too...

You have so much to be proud of! There is something very special about old houses. They have a unique character that just glows...almost like the History of the place eminates from every wall & window!

Your doors in the kitchen are gorgeous! During your "research" phase, did you ever come across the forums on OldHouseWeb.com or WavyGlass.org? Those 2 have been my resource for excellent info for years. When the site owners on OHW allowed it to become overrun with spam, one of our regular members started WG. OHW has over 10 years of excellent posts & the search function is great. All new posts for the last year are on WG....check them out. Old house lovers all the way!!!

This is my fourth old house we have bought and renovated...we actually just sold this one and we are moving closer to my home town having bought a house on the lake...I am anxious to move on...I love this old girl and she has character and 5000 living space...but I need family more.....

BTW the lake house is old too and needs a lot of tender care...she has not seen paint, anything new since 1968...because it is on the lake there is no shag carpeting lol...other than that everything is old...the sink stays though...watch for the new digs...we get her halloween night....she will also be boooootiful...

18th century home? That means the home was built between 1701 and 1800. Did you mean 19th or 20th?

it was built in 1892 and yes we have and still do have "visitors"

This was what I saw when we first walked in the house,,,and let me share something with you, we walked in and I felt at home here and I announced to my husband who was saying NO WAY NO WAY too big too much work etc and I said out loud this is my house and believe me or not this house was sold three times over the next year and all deals fell through,. this house was severely under priced as it was a bank deal and in a very prominent area...lawyers and doctors etc..we had not even sold our house, on the last day of our listing a couple came in and bought our house and we put in offer on this one, but another offer also came in and someone else got it, I was very calm and told the agent do they have conditions and she said yes on sale of theirs. I said they won't get, she said they have offer on their house I said I do not care it is my house....sure enough ten days later I was in Toronto and I was sent a text the people had to ask for an extension because the people who bought their house backed out, I said give them asking price and we will come in no conditions and move in 17 days..(we lived 2.5 hours away) and that was how it all started... we moved here with our niece adopted a girl and a boy got a dog and saved a kitten who had four more kittens....now we want to move closer to family....I am still waiting for that to finalize will share that story as soon as I can breathe knowing the deal is done

Nice job. Kitchen layout is so much nicer. I bet you think so also. Bathrooms are beautiful as well.
