Thanks for asking! This is one of our favorite built-in looks! The size is really more relevant to your use - I would add about 1.5" on either side of your tallest wine bottle for ease of use in putting in and taking the bottles out. Leave 8" between each shelf (not counting the shelf itself). Then you can see the nice, bright, white backing of the cabinet. This is a fun feature shown in the Lake Michigan beach house.
