I am trying to decide on caesarstone Misty Carrara for kitchen island versus Quartzite stone that has the look of marble. So hard to decide. Worried that I will not like the caesarstone for a showpiece island . Afraid it will look too perfect almost like a photograph of marble . I have never seen an Installation of a large piece of the caesarstone. Love your design.

Lphil what did you decide on? Deciding between caesarstone and marble!

Wendy resin what is the general thought on caesarstone? I found a beautiful London grey that looks a lot like a carerra but I'm concerned it will be in now and not in 5 years like a Corian. What are your thoughts? I found a marble I love but am concerned about the durability of it and think the etching may drive me crazy.

I went with quartzite stone slab from Walker Zanger called Perla Venata. It is very white, creamy, taupe tones. Not quote as much movement as marble but enough to look interesting. My thinking is also that too many kitchens are the carerra marble look. Getting over done. Plus I decided the marble was too delicate for me. I did an etch test on the quartzite and it passed with ease. The marble etched in 30 minutes. I was really concerned about how the stone and the kitchen would look in a year or two with stained and etched marble. I actually cook in my kitchen, I found some large slabs of the London Grey Cesearstone to see and I did not think I would like it for a center island. It might be ok for perimeter counters. The design is obviously not marble and is very subtle. The Pasadena 2013 SHOWCASE HOUSE used a marble type quartz for perimeter counters in their kitchen and it looked good.
