    Silver or black.

black is my first thought...not silver or gold, but silver could work.

I think I would go for black hardware.
I think black would be a better choice too.
    yes, black would look good
    Black iron please!

Be careful...red, white, and black are screaming 80's to me.
White kind of white? if it's white vinyl siding, I would say no for sure to the red and black. White brick...maybe. Could you post a pic of the whole house?

If you considered changing the door to a glossy black then you could choose either gold/brass or silver/chrome. Is the tan like in the Burberry checks? If so, then i think gold/brass would be better than silver. If you love your red door (which will pop beautifully) then keep it of course, but I would still lean towards black iron fittings. Brass/gold would also look ok IMO

When I did a photo search, I surprised myself with liking all the gold tones best. http://houzz.com/photos/72322
    Black was my second favorite.

Yes I prefer gold with red over silver with red, same as I do with clothing and jewellery.

Pretty much confused seems like we're split and now my problem isn't solved I have 3 rd color.... We're leaning towards gold bc our original hardware was polished brass ...

Gold/polished brass would look fine with a red door, especially if you are planning on incorporating tan into the mix. I think either gold/brass or black iron, whichever you prefer, just NOT silver with the tan.

Satin brass is gaining in popularity. I think it will look very good against red.

Don't let it overwhelm you too much, brittany. Have you already tried putting colour swatches of red, black and tan on white paper and holding something gold then silver against it? Perhaps your own eyes have the right answer for you. Nothing looks "bad" if you like it yourself. If you still have the old hardware you could put it on temporarily after you've painted to see how it looks with the new colours.

Wat is the metal on the porch pendant? It looks like it might be an oiled bronze. Why not match that on your door?
Hmmm .. the black pots .. black chairs ... black on the lighting ..I would go with black.

Getting bewildered and deranged yet Brittany? Onya, olldroo for throwing blue back into the mix! Here's my final opinion: red: goes with gold. Blue: goes with silver. Black fittings will go beautifully with anything. Tan does NOT like silver.

My home had an antique brass lock and silver handle. Much to my surprise, I preferred the antique brass to silver.

The furniture on the porch is Ours thank you very much. Here in the south rockers and swings are tradition... If u don't like it keep ur opinion to yourself. They are brand new and a modern rocker at that. Thanks for the opinions I think I have it figured out.

You mistake my comment, it was in relation to Indianpatti's comment relating colour suggestion to your porch furnishings. I just thought it looked like the photo had been taken before you purchased the property - it was certainly not an opinion on your furniture, which, BTW, I happen to think is very nice. Sorry I didn't gush abut it earlier.

I think black was my first choice., however that being said because you have had so many people suggesting all the other colours, that means to me that they would work great. we have blaCK ON OUR FRONT DOOR. INSIDE WE HaD THE 80'S GOLD, BUT CHANGED OUT ALL THE TAPS AND DOOR KNOBS INTO DARK antique brass.have fun.

Red is a warm color and so the gold being a warm color as well would look good.

Either would go depending. I can picture both bronze and pewter. Have fun comparing all the shades of hardware,

Black rubbed Bronze would be best, but if I had to chose, I would chose gold over silver, that seems a little bachelor pad to me...
