How well have you found it to be in an "actual setting" being used full time? I know it needs to be maintained either with an oiled down treatment, for the darker look or if there is the lighter it must be very carefully maintained. Or so I have been informed. Please advise as to your experience with this product in the field.

We do love soapstone! We try to make sure our homeowners are prepared for its beauty AND imperfection because the two are so intertwined! I'm based at our North Hills showroom, and we have a soapstone top here in the store so we can show how it can show scratches and demonstrate how to apply the oil. There have been times where we have used a honed black granite in lieu of soapstone, but this comes with its own pros and cons! Overall I would say that yes, our clients that have opted for soapstone are pleased.

John - yes, soapstone does require maintenance and our customers that end up choosing this beautiful material are usually very aware of that. I think the beauty of it comes from its imperfections and its aging process. It is a very unique stone and it adds a lot of character to the space.

Can you please tell me the information on the lanterns? They are beautiful, and just what we are looking for.
