Help selecting a color for window treatments

Foyer and great room need to flow. Tan walls, white Wayne's coating. Fireplace is a grey n tan combo marble. Furniture is natuzzi taupe (almost same as wall color) and shag leather rug I. Tan, grey, white, silver. Chaise are chocholate brown. I know I'm going floor to ceiling in great room and roman shades on the opposite side of room (foyer and upstairs windows). Floors are super dark Brazilian cherry. I can't decide on color....I can do white sheers. Or off white sheers. I can do tan, I can do a grey ish taupe....not sure. Help.

I would do sheers that are somewhat lighter than your walls, but in the same shade/color. If you want the sheers to be obvious, then you do them white, but I like them to somehow flow with the wall.

Consider plantation shutters to match trim and wainscot. If you still want softening of drapes, use simple stationary panels of linen to flank the window.

First off, your home looks gorgeous and has some fabulous detail! If you are going with sheers, i would suggest doing something with some subtle shimmer just to keep them interesting.This book (pictured below) has a lot of fabulous, well-priced sheer options. If you want something with more visual weight i am always a fan of a simple, darker, textured panel or something with a subtle tone on tone pattern. Would love to see the finished product!

Well, okay, consider simple option: warm hue Hunter Douglass Duette cellular shades. Do you need privacy? Then order the top down option. These shades may be used on your french doors, as well.

for the amount of windows, i would definitely recommend using a local designer. Especially for a home as grand as yours, scale and proportion are everything!

I like the above idea, too. For daytime privacy, you could have sheers with drapes to pull closed at night. I would just want the beautiful, dark trim to show.

Whoop, make that off-white trim. The duettes would not cover the beautiful, off-white trim and neither would plantation shutters, but a dramatic room like this needs curtains. Go with the designer. Stay simple and warm hued.

Thank u. I don't need privacy nor do I need shade from the sun. The curtains are to warm up the big space and give some texture. So let's say I go with sheers against the great room wall with the fireplace and doors. The opposite side I was going to do roman shades. What fabric and colors? And should I do long sheers and roman shades or just roman shades? ?????

You have a beautiful house! I would do Roman shades for the upstairs and sheers next to the fireplace (all the way from the upper window). By seeing the room in the new light, I think white sheers would work well.

I was thinking of making some sort of custom cornice board for under the roman shades....maybe out of feathers? Then the shade under the board. I was thinking of starting from the ceiling to elongate the window. See attached pics. Thoughts??? Should roman shade be solid color?
