That would make a beautiful floor as well. I'd love to do my own hardwood floor with common pine boards, but it's so soft, it wouldn't hold up well.

We have an old barn on our property. Next project is floating shelves made from barn wood to flank our stone fireplace.

Just beautiful! Looks like you have green walls so maybe lush, plush, puffy bedding in greens and a little red. what is the style of your home? Pottery barn recently featured rustic lodge bedding in a catalog that was pretty. Even all white with mountains of poofy quilts and pillows. But hubby might want to go more rustic. Could we see the rest of the room?

Here's the best I could do to show all of room. I've ordered a cream colored sheer curtain with grommets come windows. The walls are a green/gray with the tray more of a stone color and ceiling a very dark tan. Floors are mix of provincial and natural stain on red oak. I don't know if you can see the little night stands but I would like to chalk paint them. Color?

I love the color of your walls. Pillows that pick up the wall color would tie the room together. You need some other color on the bed maybe aqua with the green. Your heardboard turned out great. Some ideas.

All these pillows are beautiful - what is your taste? Buy a few and pile them up to show off your great new headboard!

Think about recovering the two pillows you have now. They don't compliment your headboard or the coverlet. They look a little like camo. Your duvet and shams are a good start so bring home several styles and colors to see what works best with your new headboard + bedspread.

Might also look for some cream accent / night tables.

Very nice. Would be very expensive if buying. The rustic reclaimed wood is very in. Stay with that in rest of room. Add earth tones to play off wood.

I like leelee's idea of covering your present pillows. Etsy.com has loads of pillow covers in all patterns, themes, colors, textures and at all prices.

I like the pillows leelee posted. The designs on the fabrics are wonderful! If you are as handy with a sewing machine as he is with a saw, you can make your own. Ebay has many fabric seller that have unusual and interesting prints. Check with upholsterers for remnant pieces also!

I was going to suggest burlap curtains, but you already have some on order. Can't seem to access the bookcases from the FB post as it is grinding along slowly and says it can't load anything older than Dec 23. I will do so if I find them.

Nice. I've got a huge stack of those "headboards" in the yard.... left over from pallets of Versa'lock block... I agree that you can re-purpose them into some neat tables, headboardsm and even lounging sofas.

I have a burlap curtain and it takes a long time for the burlap smell to go away-- so don't panic or think it will always smell like a grain sack. Still, love my curtain.

I ended up finding some really cute grommet curtains at target:) They are very sheer burlap color and exactly what I wanted:) I also did some chalk paint nightstands in farmhouse red that turned out pretty good and add some color to the room. All in all, I am very pleased!

Plain colours from Pantone 2014. Do you know, with the current surplus in chocolate covered ants, headboards are being requisitioned for use in pallets? Better lock your doors.

You have to be a little careful with using pallets as a raw material since some are made with treated timber for outdoor use (masonry and stone products). They generally need to be refinished (planed and sanded) to remove the open grain. Would nut want splinters when handling the finished product.

We lightly sanded and applied a matte poly sealer.

Pallets are very toxic, not really a good choice for indoor furniture or things you'll be touching/breathing around.

Since cash is tight...how about dressing the bed with the pillows as is laid flat (stacked two if you want). Then...a big body pillow in front of the pillows in a fun fabric. Here is a photo of the stacked pillows, but a body pillow instead of the two karate chopped ones. :) Forgot to say I love your headboard!

Amandala, many interior house and car materials outgas and are hazardous to our health over time. Worth your research if you are worried, but stick to reputable sources such as University research. Meanwhile, air out your house as much as possible with fresh air. Not when it's freezing cold of course!

Repurpose old pallets and barn walls to make Coffee table, night stands, side tables, interior (not exterior) shutters, even recovering kitchen cabinets - the sky is the limit!

Just so you know, I did check the pallets that were used and the were all heat treated so it seems that we are ok:)

I love this project but must add that some wood pallets are fumigated before they leave port for the US. Most are marked so be careful with the ones you use. Would not want to be sleeping so close to those that have been treated for pests!! But I am a firm believer in reduce, reuse, recycle!!!! Just be careful!!!

Should make them perfect for outdoor use.
