Need help with my kitchen

last modified: 12 years ago
My kitchen cabinets are painted brick orange- red with oil rubbed bronze hardware, back splash white subway tile recently installed with new arbrite counters colors; olive green (most of it),brown and greyish blue mixed together. The kitchen walls are yellow and I would like to change it because I don't like the contrast with the white back splash. I'm open to changing the cabinet color but I like the color and it gives it a rustic look to the kitchen which Is the style of decor that I like and aiming for. Any suggestions as to what I can do?more pics of the counter will follow

I'm looking for a paint color that will blend or contrast the white subway backsplash which was recently put in it also has to blend with the counters which I described earlier.I like your idea of keeping the doors and casing the same paint color.I don't like the butter yellow paint color around the casing because I don't find it's nice around the super white subway tiles .Can you tell me how you managed to change my cubboard doors and wall.Oh by the way i have an accent wall the same color as my cupboard doors.i will post more photos soon

I'm having a hard time picturing the counters, but what about white or a softer shade of yellow for the walls? Wondering if you've considered painting the cabinet boxes red to match the doors? Or doing some accent cabinets in all of the red, and others in a white?

    I like these colors together.

Perhaps you could paint the boxes black and pull out a color from the countertop for your walls?

Just to let everyone know that I'm living in a rented apt and cannot be painting black colors or too dark,I will be posting more pics of the counter and the rest of the kitchen to show the red accent wall that matches the cupboards.I prefer to keep my cupboard red so I do like the idea of painting the boxes or cases red. They are a pain to take down and repainted, they were repainted 5 yrs ago,so was the kitchen but last year with the white back splash and counters put in I'm finding that the yellow paint is not blending as well.

Like to add that I like a rustic look in my kitchen including Italian paint colors

Since I have a lot of cupboards along both sides of the wall (upper and lower)and drawers in such a small tight space I wonder if it wouldn't be too red and overwhelming to paint the casing also red like Zip2Zap suggested. It LOOKS great in those pictures that she posted but the room looks more of an open space compared to mine

Go with the red if you can match it! To me the red on the doors is too rich for white face frames, which is why I suggested black. Colorful décor on the countertops will offset the white backsplash. Perhaps green, tan, or a more golden yellow for the walls would give the room a more European feel?

Can you post pictures of more of the kitchen to get a better idea of what it looks like now. Thanks.

@kahl253 I copy the picture and open it in Powerpoint and then use shapes to recolor the photo as needed. Here is another mock up with a different paint color, more of a dark taupe.
