What vanity/sink will be installed?

First thing that comes to mind is a jeans blue.

So should I have my vanity picked out first? Torn between white or an espresso. I know, two totally different ideas.. That's why I thought I really need to pick a paint color first.

I was also thinking about a clear glass vessel sink.

White and blue are fresh. Add some wood, or even black hardware.
Have some fun, it's a powder room.

Love light and fresh... Any idea for darker and dramatic.. I will be hanging a small chandelier over the sink too. Thanks!

Not sure how elaborate you want to go but I loved these colors. So fresh yet elegant.

I think that you should do a nice bold color in the bathroom! It's a small space, but you can make a major impact. I love the wall colors in your hallway, so maybe a teal or some of the wall paper from the people in the thread are nice .

Not sure that will go in this home. Elaborate yes! Though very beautiful...when your designing a bath what should be the first to choose? Vanities? Then go around that?

My sister did two bathroom makeovers recently. She chose a completely neutral palette for tile, walls, etc. and then we shopped (relentlessly) for vanities. She didn't want a "normal" vanity so we searched antique shops, furniture stores, little out of the way boutiques, anywhere that would have something to fit in the space and could be converted to a vanity. Because of the neutral palette, were able to find some spectacular pieces that really brought the wow factor into the room. Using those pieces and some exquisite mirrors, we were able to put the focus where it needed to be and everything else took its spot as supporting cast.

I think you should start with whatever is most important to you. If you really want the walls to carry the room, start with that. I usually find one thing whether it's an art piece, a furniture piece or a piece of fabric that sparks my creative fire and go from there. It's truly just a matter of personal choice and what will make you happy at the end of the day.

Thank you for your help, I will have to just find a look I love then try to replicate it.. So many choices and I think my problem is I love a lot of different designs! I like the idea about trying to find a unique piece for the area, such as a mirror or vanity.. Lol..like the Kohler commercial, bring home a faucet and tell my husband to build the bath around it!!

Yes pick out the vanity first, decide what the decor is, we just did our ensuite and went with a deco type ( what I refer to it as, probably wrong term) but it was white subway tile with black and a white sink, glass shower enclosure ..and we went with a very dark blue, almost black paint. Sounds horrible, but it came out very clean looking. We made sure the towel bars and accessories matched the lavatory fixtures, its the small things that make the room..and we did it for under six grand..gutted. ( our contractor did rather we did nothing)

Remember also that the room ( at least in my opinion ) needs to coordinate somewhat with the next..ie: don't do a bright red bath then a lime green hall.. our bedroom is done in light beige and blue and the dark blue in the bath offset those colors well.

Do any of you have any thoughts on a great brown to use but not too dark? There are no windows in my bath so I don't know if that would be a problem with such a dark color, and it is a half bath.

Ok, I'm just gonna say it... to me, brown is just not an inviting color in a bathroom. Especially a dark brown. If you are going to use a dark color in there whether navy, black, brown or anything that goes really dark, you will really have to amp up the lighting to keep from feeling claustrophobic. Mirrors can also help. Personally, brown is probably the one color I would keep out of a bathroom.

I love caponata on the BM site..would work well with both colors. But I love bold.

No you weren't rngp.... I was kinda stuck on brown so now I will go with lighter walls, sometimes we just need that little nudge in the right direction.. I probably would of painted it and regretted it.. I don't love painting either.. Thank you!

I once did a whole bathroom black, I mean everything and got lots of halogen lighting , was probably one of the coolest ones I ever did. I think powder rooms are the most fun, and I agree brown is not for bathrooms. You can go crazy , no one is in there for more than a couple of minutes so have fun.

Idelandy, have you considered a dramatic purple? I think that would be a great touch with the other colors you have in surrounding rooms. I've been trying to find a color on the BM site but that has got to be the most infuriating paint site around or I haven't figured out the "trick" to using it yet.

I have never ever done purple before, it's foreign to me! Lol.. I agree too the web site is horrible.. I have to get samples and bring them home.

*Grins* ... well then you know how many different shades there are... you could use a little or a lot but if you want drama...purple can give you drama.

our bath off our bedroom is six by five feet and I used the blackish blue, of course there were alot of white tile to offset it, but used the right way bold colors can be used in small rooms.. not arguing, but ..

get paint samples of your three favorite colors like they show on tv and look at it.. in different light. I am not an interior decorator, but I think and am told my home is beautiful.

and I agree .use behr lol..that is something I DO AGREE WITH.

the lavender looks very grey on my screen. I would go bolder..much bolder. I am done lol before I make enemies.
