Is there a FP or window view to consider? If not, the piano will be the focal point. It also needs to be on an interior wall for its health, so there's an opportunity for some great art behind it. I'd suggest a bi-sectional sofa in loft/apartment size. The advantage is that the chaise can reverse to either side for easy arranging in your space. If hubby doesn't take over the chaise, then add a chair for him, or possibly a pair of swivel chairs for added flexibility. A rug should supply the color basis for selecting paint.

I think I'd keep the place light and airy due to the size. If you feel that a contrasting wall would be absolutely right for the space, do the wall behind the piano so that it becomes a piece of sculpture as well as a musical instrument. It's hard to suggest a layout without knowing the room, that is, how many entrances and exits, is it open to the dining area or kitchen, that sort of thing. But keep the style of your furniture trim, no big rolled arms or bulky backs on seating...slim arms and lean upholstery. Mount your curtains from the ceiling to make the ceiling seem higher, and, if you're feeling bold, paint the ceiling in a semigloss to bounce light (use eggshell if you're not adventuresome). Hang art lower, again to keep the ceiling visually high, unless you have some very large pieces. Hope these thoughts are helpful!

This room is pretty much square shaped. I have only the two side walls for placing furniture. The one center wall has a small window and a door going out on a small balcony. So I am having a hard time visualizing the type of window treatment to use. I do know how I am placing my furniture now and I have painted each side wall a semi-dark gray with a white leather sofa and a black chair for hubby. My piano will be against the gray wall (tomorrow)! Moving this week and it is crazy. Idea's on the window treatments would be so appreciated. I am seriously thinking of coming with red as my accent color. Thank you for any assistance!

Hope the move went well (do they ever?)...for window treatment on the wall with the small window and door to balcony, I'd suggest treating the window and door as one unit, with one treatment spanning them both, which could draw to one side. I usually, especially in a room with 8 foot ceilings, start the curtain at the ceiling line, or below the crown if there is crown molding. Again, in a small-ish room, I'd try to match the window fabric to the wall so that it blends and doesn't jump out at you, becoming part of the architecture of the room rather than a decorative element. A dash of red is energizing in a white/gray/black room, so go for it! Hoping you're loving the new place and your new neighborhood...
