Hi there, We've been experimenting with and testing new terms to help people discover the discussions area a little more easily. What's your favorite you've seen?

I asked that same question .It is going on for too long now.

Q& A is so far the worst option, with this font it looks like some ancient symbol. Why not Forum or Discussions ?

I think Design Dilemma is the most fitting

I thought I was going crazy because I was looking for discussion all day and could not find it.

One of the options currently being tested is actually "Forum" but you will see only one of the terms, while we test them.

Separate question. How did you guys initially discover the discussions on Houzz?

    Can't remember.

Saw it from this discussion that it had changed.

I really had a hard time at first...it looked so different but I couldn't really put my finger on why. Then I saw "Advice" and put two and two together.

Initially it was along the top navigation bar, as it is today. It was shortly after you changed the header from black to white that I think I first noticed "talk" as a an bar selection. Then it evolved. Advice is possibly the least effective IMO. Forum is a bit boring and does not really reflect what goes on here... My tuppence worth

I like Advice better than Forums.

The first time it was discussions, as I recall. Than the whole layout changed and I had to search for it, but I knew it had to be inbetween ideabooks and upload. Then it kept changing from Talk to Q&A and now Advice, which only made me laugh.
I like Talk. It sounds light and airy and it names up everything going on under that button.
I like Discussions. It sounds a bit more dramatic.
Q&A and Advice are bad picks, imho.

    John's right.
Example: At first you could type searchwords and push either Discussions, Photos or Products to go to a section you wanted. Now you need to copy the search, go back or at least retype, that's quite annoying. The same goes for switching between styles and rooms.

I think I see a pattern emerging with Discussion and Talk at the forefrontI am still chuckling at armygirl not liking advice (or taking it???) ;-)
I like "Discussions" but maybe because I am used to it.

Also, while we have Houzz admin on here, can I suggest something like a notifications (like Facebook) so that when we log on we see if anyone has commented on a post or discussion that we have posted or commented on? I turned off my e-mail notifications because I was getting bombarded with e-mails, but I would like to know my updated activity within the site.

By the way, this site is really good, I'm on it everyday! Thanks!

I like the idea of notifications as well. I run my own website since 2009 for photographers around the world. The website is run with vBulletin software. It has similar to Facebook that it has an area that notifies you when members made comments on your photos. Similar to houzz, it also allows to subscribe and unsubscribe to individual threads that were started, or even you yourself start.
