With such a neutral pallatte you need something that will "Pop"!

I agree with Bethany (by the way Bethany I'm down in E'town, so hello) with the neutral palate you can add some "POP".

What color is your paint?
Subway tile on glass or glass multi color strips if u need horizontal look

4" base tile...I'm about to do it in mine going to let my daughter paint them to add character to our home

Solid color subway tile or 4" squares maybe set on the diagonal. Don't do a busy pattern to compete with the stone countertops. Pick a neutral or color that goes with both the cabinets and countertops. A mid tone will pop without over powering.

I just painted my kitchen white and used subway tile shaped stone for backsplash. It was easy on the budget and I like it.

Subway tile always reminds me of old public restrooms. Since it's trendy now - it's just the first thing that pops into people's heads. (Like the word granite) In my kitchen, I do not want texture or grout that will only trap crud and be a bear to clean. I have and I recommend mirror backsplash. It brightens up a room and cleans easily with window cleaner. Why do think restaurants and bars use it so extensibly. It will also make the room look much bigger.

In my ideas book I have a picture of a pressed metal splash back. It would be a great way of adding some pattern and texture to the space and can look pretty amazing. It is also a great option if you are not very bold when it comes to using colour in a space. You can always add colour through your accessories which can easily be swapped out at a later date if you want to change the feel of the space.

Your Granite is not busy,beautiful kitchen ,keep the backsplash simple and it will stay classic and easy to live with end great if you decide to list your home someday

Continue the countertop up the backsplash. Clean look..timeless style.

Hi Andrea, it looks like you have a lovely view from your kitchen window. I shouldn't want to draw too much attention away from the granite or the view. I will throw in with 'bellehuit' and say that Emser is a great resource for selections and add that something simple like Sandstone Marcos Rose white marble or Pietra Grigio Argento Limestone would be fitting. The attached photo is a sample of San Marcos used in a back-lit inlay. If you chose something like the white marble with beige veining I would suggest Laticrete 24 natural gray grout and if silver limestone such as the Pietra Grigio, Custom color 11 snow white. An accomplished tile installer can cut these or any other complimentary selection to your specified design and layout preferences.

Your kitchen is beautiful. So many ideas to choose from, but for me, your kitchen inspired these choices in back splash ideas.

Top left photo: My first thought was a combination of white, gray and touches of brown tiles to compliment the wood flooring and the kitchen table.

Top right: But, white brick would add a lot of wonderful texture and character.

Bottom left: Marble. Yum.

Bottom right: White and gray subway marble. A bit more stylish than plain subway tiles and my favorite of the four.

Kevin your tile suggestion of mosaic glass tiles is just what I picked for new backsplash but having trouble with color if grout to pick since it has many colors in the glass tile
My paint is grant beige and pencil edge tile is in the taupe family
Took a taupe grout called birch
Do I think it will work?
Did not want white grout

I love white or marble subway tile.

No matter what you use in your small kitchen......it will appear small and confined. I suggest you install smoked grey plate glass mirror with your counter tops to give soft depth to your kitchen. Outstanding!!!

Yeah I tried the smoky glass but it makes it look to manly, I also tried a smoky brown which I like but the rest of family did not, a muted green and a matted white. It's been hard since the fabricator made off with the rest of my granite and didn't even provide me with a scrap not to mention the cutting board and 36 slab that was to be used down the road. Thank you to everyone for your suggestions.

I am a huge fan of round "penny" tile! It is simple and classic!! Best of luck
