Something a bit unexpected, not from the same color palette here. Rather something that complements it. If you want to use this room for serious, after-dinner, stuffy family chats or some other specific gloomy use then leave it alone. If you'd like to entertain there and have your guests feel welcomed and wanted you need to give this space some LIFE through color. You do not have to make the space more casual but can certainly pick up a color, perhaps from your rug, perhaps from your personal likes or memories, that would evoke a more inviting gathering, at which I think you, yourself, will experience more enjoyment, just as your guests will.
