Cabinets and floor color

Hi all,

I am in the process of choosing cabinet colors to go with the existing floors. I am going for a contemporary design, with slab doors. Attached pictures are just representative of colors, not the style.

With the dark floors and light walls (not changing colors or adding backsplash any time soon), should I go for lighter cabinets (1 and 2), or pick a darker hue and try to mix it up with lighter countertops (3 and sample 4)?

I like the medium color...just enough blend, but also some difference. Allows you to go lighter or darker for counter.

4 is way too close to the floor color, I think I like the 2nd one the best as well. Not to matchy and allows wiggle room in counter top color.

I recommend sample four, since you are going for a contemporary look. I actually like that it is similar to the floor color and you can "break it all up" with lighter counters and stainless steel appliances.

I like three or four. The first two seem too light for the look you are going for.

I hate it when it looks like the cabinets are growing out of the floor, because that is what it looks like when the cabinets match the floor. It creeps me out. My friend loves it. I suggest you stay to the right or left and leave the middle ones alone.

I like #3. Then go for the "POP" with the counters.

The middle cabinet would be my pick.. the one on the left looks very dated and the one on the right looks like you are attempting to match the floor. Contrast is good.

I'd go with 4, for a contemporary slab style cabinet. Of the 4, it's the best choice. It's not that I don't like a contrast, it's just that the lighter choices you have offered aren't right for your floor, imo.

I don't think this is the way to make a good decision. The whole palette of colors and textures needs to be considered together and you need actual samples to compare. Also take into consideration how much of each will be in the mix and what kind of lighting there will be. I'm sorry but If you design the kitchen this way you might as well flip a coin.
