I have a 1928 tudor, pretty similar, and we've used dark brown on the trim, cream on the stucco and a red door.

Saratoga, I do like the colors. They're very traditional for this style/color, but it desperately needs a paint job and we'd like to put our own stamp on it as well as update it. The landscaping issues (yes, the juniper must go!) will be a whole other post!

I too would suggest replacing the juniper but with something lovely that blooms depending on your area and weather such as azaleas, lilac or rhododendron and continue around the side of the home... It will soften and add such romance to the front of your darling home. As for trim color I'd suggest something dramatic in a deep hue such as a true charcoal grey or even a rich navy blue and then paint your door with a fantastic complimenting color. Enjoy ~

I think your house is fine, but, if you 'really' want a change; you could deepen the top colours, still keeping the 2 tones.
What I think what your home needs, is landscaping....why do people plant hugh trees near a house. Suggestion....remove tree, add mulitple garden levels and shapes using rock, fill up /w many different colour shrubs (evergreens,reds, etc), low maintainence, keep landscaping lower heights, add wood mulch. Change front walkway...curved /w, coloured concrete stamped cobblestone look.

Can the juniper be transplanted? I was able to save two Jap.Maple even though the landscaper expressed doubts of survival. (I gave it a lot of encouraging words throughout the transplant and after...doing better now than before).

For the record, the arbor vitae was removed…it was my husband's idea, which I never liked, and died from the wet spring and dry summer. Low and spreading is the replacement.
Debbie65, you can get a landscape plan from a professional for a minimal charge, then do the purchase and planting yourself. Assures a good investment.

Thanks for all the ideas! This is totally what I needed! I'm going to try all the color combos in Photoshop and see what I like. I love the muted colors like the browns and creams in photo above; it's hard to go wrong with them. But I also like the idea of something bolder: the charcoal, a blue--I even found an eggplant trim with an orange-y brick and it looked really good. We have a slate roof with various colors so it would be a nod to that. The paint needs to be done so now's the best time to try something different!

I know the landscaping needs work! I love the big tree. We moved here from a big suburban yard and that tree is my last connection with the nature park that was our old yard. But! it sheds needles on the roof and when we moved in, neglect of those had caused a ceiling leak. Plus, it looms over the chimney and we can't use the fireplace safely! Usergray, you're describing the lawn I picture!

The first batch are blue, brown, charcoal and eggplant. The second post has green, oregano, peach, and sage. Yellow is the final one. It's rather clumsy Photoshopping from a file I started quite a while back so apologies. I will have to submit to the house crew, but I'd welcome any comments.

I'm going to attach two final images so you can see the inspiration for two of the color schemes that definitely look better on the original. I think the blue doesn't look bad on my version but the yellow doesn't show well at all while the original is quite charming.
