Need help for my new Loft Apartment

Just moving into my new loft apartment. I don't have much furniture aside from my bed, the Jc Penney Darrin Couch, and the IKEA poeng chair, and a 50" TV. Any comments on how to layout the apartment would be helpful!

Especially trying to figure out what to do with the space in the Kitchen, ideally I'd like some kind of barstool/island type thing but not sure where to start.

Try positioning the sofa with the back to the kitchen…coming off the wall about where that pipe is (strange spot for a pipe?). That will give you the solid wall for an IKEA media unit.

The behind the sofa, get a drop leaf table which will act as a dining table when you pull up the leaf or a sofa table, or a buffet table.

Love your sofa.

Sofa definitely back to kitchen. I love your space! I do think I would paint the cabinets Ivory and maybe glaze them and add pretty hardware. The stairway is nice.

-- A kitchen island would work in the kitchen. There are islands in every color, shape and size. These are from Ikea. If you decide on the island, it might be too crowded for a sofa going across the room with the back to the kitchen.

Good point, on being crowded. I will have to see how the space works out. I do like that second island with stools though.

IKEA Poeng is dark brown leather, with dark brown wood. Still need a footrest/ottoman to go with it.

Any recommendations on a nice coffee table less than 300?

Likely will have a rug down. Have a couple native wool american rugs with neutral colors (black/cream). Yes, contemporary look. Might want to stick with the couch style (mid-century), or something that would go well with it.

The island to the right in sandi post would be great. I'd paint the cabinets but maybe just the doors, rug in living area, Not kitchen

I would ask the landlord before I painted those kitchen cabinet doors, that could be a costly decorating error if you don't own that apartment.

It's a great space.
