I'm not sure about your red fabric; it seems it already has plenty of visual pleating! I'm wondering if your fabric is railroaded (the pleats are perpendicular to the long edge of the roll). If you do make draperies with it, consider that you will have to match the " pleats" from one panel to the next. Another idea you may not have considered is to upholster the wall behind the bed with your red fabric. I think it would look amazing!

yes it does have those tiny pleats already in the fabric, upholstering sounds like a great idea but I would prefer drapes in case I decide to change it in future. The other thing I am not sure is if I should cover the entire back wall like the first picture or just cover the portion behind headboard!!!

OK, you showed the red fabric (beautiful), I'm not sure what the beautiful taupe fabric is slated for? I am assuming the tufted headboard is white? What color is the bedspread (white as in the photos?) Is the bedspread totally to the floor or is some of the bed trim showing or is there a dust ruffle? What color is the bed trim if it is showing? What is color of walls? Rug? Floor? What color will the other window-treatment-drape be (the one that is not behind the bed?) In these photos the white bed covering in photos #2 is white, but does not reach the floor & some bed hardware (not attractive) shows. In photo #1 the bed covering is longer but still does not reach the floor and some bed parts show.

The tufted headboard is made from the taupe that is layed out above the red fabric. I put them both in the picture to kind of give an idea. My room wall is close to this yellow

I don't know the color of your bedspread nor if it is a #1 long bedspread that falls to the floor or #2 a short coverlet with a dust ruffle or a short duvet that shows some of the "wood" (paint, fabric etc) tones of the bed where a dust ruffle would have been. I have different rules of thumb that appeal to me for each. Let's say you have #1: In that room, I like the curtains to blend with the wall tone and have the bedding be the star of the show, & the walls & curtains fade into the background. The curtains don't have to be exactly like the walls--but in the same color. In this photo the bedspread color (orange) is not repeated at the window, the wall is repeated at the window So if you have a long white spread, I'd have both curtains in the wall tone (butter). The curtain over the bed would be butter, and I'd have some sort of a crown in red silk. Here an extra curved rod (for the red silk) as a crown for the bed. Maybe the red silk with a tie back so the red silk didn't cover the tufted headboard. Curtain over bed like the blue (but in butter), and the crown & crown drop in red. In #2 if there is a dust ruffle or bed "wood" showing, I like the curtain to "match" (or at least have some of the same color) the dust ruffle or bed tone. Sounds like your husband is trying to tell you he doesn't want the red fabric --- if it is also his room too maybe see what he would like. I love the red - so if you go ahead with it then just have soft folds w/ grommets on a rod so you can change it if you don't like it. Can you just tape it up for a couple of days to get a feel for it. I would personally have the whole room in the taupe color and just have the red as an accent - pillows etc. Create a neutral base and spark it up with some shots of color- that way you can always change the accent color without having to change the whole room. The first picture example you show demonstrates what I mean -- basic color base w/ accent color added

We have a King bed and the ceiling is not that high, I am not sure the crown will work for me.

My bead spread will be a combination of this fabric(with damsk black pattern) and black. How do you like the idea of striping the gold and taupe for curtains?

Might be OK - but be careful not to over load the room with too many colors and patterns. Yes ,I like the drapes !

With the black & white bedspread, and butter wall & drapes, with my rule of thumb, you could have a trim of black on the butter drapes OR a trim of accent color (is Red the accent color in your room?) + black on the drapes (red & black) Or a trim of just accent color on the drapes (red?). By trim I mean some fringe or grosgrain not a whole lot. I think the bed should be the star of the room, and if the curtains are striped, they will look really nice & interesting, but will take away the center-stage-diva from the bedspread. I am assuming you have a window over the bed? I'm not sure about how this idea would play out (I have to play with fabric & try different novel ideas for a few days each). You could have one window the butter to match the walls and the window over the bed, a striped hanging of the red, black taupe, butter (or maybe taupe, black & red only). I'd line the fabrics so no window outline showed through. I'm not sure if all of the stripes should be the same width or different widths….again, I'd have to play with this idea of the stripes ( I find the stripe idea intriguing, though).

Maybe compromise? Buy the diamond stitched headboard and add a simple coronet drape around the headboard vs. hanging fabric along the entire wall? Have to admit, that's a lot of shiny red fabric. Very intense. Maybe, instead of solid red, choose something with a touch of red, only? But not too girlie, for your husband's sake. Something you both can agree upon. A pretty delicate plaid, paisley or stripe? Or the fabric that has those little people scenes in it - sorry, forget what it's called. (Old fashioned French or English themes. Always classic and tasteful.)
