Looks to me like you have stunning views of mountains and trees. How about if you bring some of that indoors with green granite veined with rich browns and golds. See attached kitchen photo. The name of the granite in photo is Golden Lighting. Depending on the source, it will have different names. Verde Begonia is another similar green option. If I could see more of the other furnishings and objects the counter needs to work with, I'm sure I'd be able to make the perfect suggestions. I also have a blue and tan slab in mind that I just used in case you are going for a cooler, yet warm palette. I love this part of projects!

Thanks for the suggestions, I am not a fan of green but completely understand the reason for saying it would work as we do have great views and lots of light. Here are a couple of pictures- what do you think of tan brown or should we go lighter?

Because you have good natural light I wouldn't be concerned about going lighter necessarily. What I think is important is that the cabinet finish and the stone have enough contrast to enhance each other rather than just blending together, and that you love the stone because you'll be seeing a lot of it. Most natural granites in the tan to brown range are quite variegated so you'll almost always get a mix of light and dark in varying degrees of depth. If you don't want a lot of movement in your counters, I suggest an engineered product such as Caesarstone. Jeruselem Sand is popular, the Pebble would match your chair. Take at look at the Fox Marble site for what's out there currently. What caught my eye in granite selections were

To me a granite countertop is like a piece of art. Also consider running it up the backsplash..the wall for a continuous look. It makes the area appear larger and really makes a statement. But, it really needs to be what YOU like best. Go to granite yards and look at slabs, take home samples even from home centers. We are definitely going to run the granite up the backsplash and we've been going to a lot of granite yards. I liked the Kashmir Gold but was told the quarry in India was closed so I haven't been able to find it. I also like the Tan Brown granite and some of the Bordeaux's. I'll upload a picture of the sample once we get closer to deciding but thank you so much for all of your good ideas!
