How high is the counter top for the dek and how much space do you have from desk top to cabinet above?

    Desks are typically 29-30" high - and the clearance can be as little as 18", but more isn't necessarily better as it becomes more difficult to reach shelves above while remaining seated as clearance is increased.

    Thanks so much for your response. My cabinet maker is suggesting a total height (with countertop) of 32 3/4. He is trying to accommodate a lower drawer for files, with 2 drawers over top. We have full inset doors and drawers for our entire kitchen, so it requires a bit more space. What are your thoughts about one that is 32 3/4?
