Very large artwork above your bench.

Your entryway lacks personality and color. I would suggest starting with a runner which welcomes you and leads you into the home. Choose one with the colors you would like to introduce into the space. Take those colors and find some art that inspires. I feel the bench, although may be practical, is too small for the space. I would put a console table and flank 2 chairs on either side. Style the console with some accessories in an odd number. You can also put a large mirror above the table and your art on either side of the mirror. I hope this helps.

Nice space to work with, try shortening up the space with a chair. Add a table to the wall with colorful accessories , keep it to scale. A mirror over the table would look nice, something with a thick frame that stands off the wall, but keep it scale as well, this will reflect light as well as color. Since the wall color is neutral add a area rug with your favorite colors, this will ground it all together.

You could also create an expansive feel with a beautiful scenic wall mural. I think that would be a great use for that large wall. Some possibilities:

i agree with the above suggestion that you need a long runner. I also agree that a large piece of artwork you love (or a large mirror) above the bench would look nice. I like an open/airy feel so I am not a fan of adding a bulky chair to this space.

Great comments, but problem not solved! Definitely a floor covering and since this is where coats and shoes are coming off, I would assume you need something durable...try jute! Then add a bench that has baskets under it for shoes and I would add a coat tree, but some board and batten would work with hooks or hangers attached for coats. Whatever suits your style and pocket book:). Then add a large mirror for that last check-yourself before leaving the house. I would probably also paint that wall, but from the picture I couldn't make a recommendation other than a true beige/brown! Good luck, you have a lovely foyer!
