A good flooring company can come in and work on a spot like this to buy you some time until you refinish the whole floor. BUT, it will not be totally invisible - you will see it some.

Depending on the space you'll probably want to tape off a section and refinish that area. Some finishers can potentially refinish this spot and blend it to surrounding areas. If the spot is not worn down to bare wood you might try Bona Prep and Bona Traffic to restore that area.

You are going to be working with a temporary solution. Temporary meaning 3-7 years TOPS. When floors begin to wear through, it means we have "missed" the buff and coat window by a few years. A nice buff and coat 1-3 years ago would have eliminated this concern and bought you another 7-15 years worth of finish.

Now that this has worn through, you will need to have a sand/patch done to extend the life of the finish for another 3-7 years. But that's about all you will get out of it. If your flooring professional is good/very good, they might be able to get a nice patch of finish in there and then do a buff and coat over top to offer a finish that will get you to 7 years instead of 3 years.
