Stain the concrete to blend with the brick or darker. Add some large potted plants or trees in out around the pool. Add outside sectional more like your living room decor and out side rugs or runners fire pit cozy up in the evening out by the pool

You can definitely make great use of your backyard. Because you live in a sunny city, I think you need furniture that you could easily move it to stay in the shade.
For example, the rolling bench could be a great addition.

Hi, I think the idea of painting/staining the concrete would really help. I think you could also lightly stain the fence and adjust the sprinklers. I am not sure what it looks like when you take a picture from the table to the house? But I think I would try to incorporate an area where there are more comfortable sitting chairs. Also, so fabric, such as colored screening or drape type curtains. The area where the table is could be used for a sitting area with an indoor/outdoor carpet. Another possibility would be a square gazebo. As for your plants, a small 16" plant with a bright orange flower is a clivia, it looks similar to your peter pan. You could split the bird of paradise that you have into about 3-4 plants.
