The shelf height is determined by the height of your shoes. I love wide shelves! The shelves in the image are 40" wide. Who's designing your new closet?

what is the height of each shelf? I'm trying to figure out how far apart I need to put each shoe shelf. My shelves are going to be straight as opposed to slanted.

The shelves are 9" apart, but it really depends on the height of your shoes (e.g. flats v. wedges v. heels, etc.).

is that the standard height you'd suggest for men's shoes too or less height between?

Usually less for mens' shoes...7-1/2" is good except for boots.
