Adding curb appeal to your house

Best way to add curb appeal is by painting your house and adding a simple porch. An upgrade would be dormers (if possible) to add dimension. As seen here, bay windows are a great feature which enhances the look immensely.

What did they do with the old set of double wood doors? Those were nice! :0)

I do like the changes in the dormers & the upper windows with functional shutters. The overall upgrade was done very nicely.
(the "before" lower bay windows were funky)

For me, I think I'd go with a different color. (just my preference) The blue seems to be a little pale for such a "beefy" structure.

    Did that make sense?? hehe

During our deconstruction we offer a team that recycles material. This is what the homeowners did most likely unless they used it in another place of their choice without our knowledge. We are big in recycling what we can when we can. Glad you like it. Yes, it made sense. :)

Great job ... wouldn't have given the before house a second glance. My favourite part is actually the garage transformation as went from boring industrial box look to looking like a home. Nice work.

Bump outs give the house a more contemporary look, right?

Is the brick painted or was it removed and resurfaced? Hard to tell in the pic.

I really like the extra windows and the porch detail. The garage changes also rock!

The before - see this type of house everywhere. I love the new transformation, Fresh and inviting. I can picture myself sitting out on the front porch drinking my morning coffee while the paper(boy or girl ) throws the morning newspaper my way. They followed through for the whole front facade with the garage transformation. Beautiful!

Looks good; my only comments would be on the muntins in the garage dormer window and the casements flanking the front door. IMO most window mfgrs don't do diamond lites correctly, they look more like a rotated square. Over the garage; I would have done 3w2h instead of 2w2h, generally speaking the lite cuts should be taller than they are wide. They did a good job on the rest of the windows. same with garage doors; seems like a limitation from the mfgr rather than a design choice...

Yes, it's clearly the same house. That can be seen by reading the comments and studying the detail of the pictures.

Thank you for your reply. I am surprised that all the windows were replaced, the brick was covered with siding and the bay windows removed and replaced, along with the garage door. Would love to know the time it took to complete and the budget.

how was the brick painted? did it get a primer and a special paint designed for brick/stone?

Wow! What a difference the porch, bump outs and garage doors made!

Overall, a very successful result - congrats! I agree with Scheider on the garage dormer, and feel that the porch is wider than I would include. Nonetheless, a great upgrading of the former design. Great to see correctly proportioned shutters!

Carrie Moore - Colorado Home Realty, it's pretty hard to give you the figure because it was tied in with a whole-house interior renovation plus a two-story addition in the back, as well as a screened-in porch. To give you an idea of what this project entailed here's the backside of the same house and an inside shot of the kitchen and screened-in porch.
