Mosaic behind range and beveled subway tile everywhere else..

I personally do not like the subway tile with mosaic accent combo. I think that trend is going to come in and out of style fast. I would encourage your client to just do subway tiles. Clean and hopefully more timeless.

I agree with glitznglamme, full subway tile in a 50/50 or 70/30 offset is simple and classic!

@glitzandglamme I agree but would like to try and create some type if ASIC design with the mosaic in order to accommodate her wishes. I just can't come up with what could work.

@chrome interiors when you mention offset, are you referring to using some mosaic or none at all?

Use a strip of the mosaic as a a ''liner'' accent all the way around the kitchen and as a frame for an accent of the same subway set in a herringbone pattern behind the range. That will integrate the two tiles better, and not have the ''feature'' be such a dramatic change. The tone on tone look will better camoflauge the focal feature that the client wants while still giving them what they want. It's a compromise between both viewpoints.

I'm not opposed to different tiles. This is a bathroom, but similar idea to what was suggested. I did it because the large marble tiles were salvage and I was just short. It covers the floor and goes all the way up the wall.

I think all one tile is most attractive. To my eye mosaics come across as busy.

The offset just referred to the install pattern for the subway tile :)

I would nix the mosaic and just do a full subway tile backsplash. The client has the makings of a classic white kitchen, but throwing mosaic tile into the mix would lend to a more trendy feeling in the room.

I think an inset in the mosaic over the stove would look nice with those choices. Another idea would be to do an accent row. Here are some inspiration photos. The accent will add a nice texture that the all-white palette may need.

While I totally agree with others that I prefer the classic look of the subway tile alone, I think the small mosaic your client has chosen would look fine as an inset square over the stove. I ordinarily do not like the glass mosaic with the subway tile because I find the combination too busy, but in your case the mosaic is not high contrast. It offers subtle variations on a theme of white. So either as in inset square or as the border for an inset square of herringbone subway tile, or as a thin border elsewhere in the kitchen--any of these would be subtle enough not to date too quickly. But anything busier I would discourage.

Hi Feeny, yes the too busy factor is also her concern. The white might not look bad but can't find anything online to see what the end result would look like. We will have to base it on some of the pics we've seen so far. Thank you!

We recently did a kitchen with beveled subway tiles above the counter tops and a mosaic of penny tiles behind the rage. It looks fabulous! Maybe this would work for your client, too?

Do,you have Floor Decor by you? We have one in Orange county. They have great looks, and ideas. Maybe going a wave design in solid white it's a 3 d look. Check tile stores for unusual ideas. I love the silver bling mosaic Behind the stove gives it a lot of shine. Is that what they want?
