grey and pale yellow look would look really nice with your headboard.

I would keep the wall as is because it's light and neutral and you have dark carpet which contrasts nicely. I think the headboard matching the walls is not a big deal as long as you bring some contrast through comforter, throw pillows, art/frame, etc. What color is your carpet? I like the grey and pale yellow idea.

I would recommend wallpapering that wall.

You could drape a colorful throw or blanket over the headboard. Pick bedding in a color you love. Almost anything will go with the taupe. For me teals and mineral blue shades are soothing for a bedroom. You could even change by the seasons with warm burgundies in winter and cool water shades in the summer. If you do the accent wall, paint will limit your bedding choices.

Aqua looks pretty good with beige and white shutters. I'd uncarpet the floor.

not sure how big your room is but going by the picture.. i think a dark accent wall might make it look smaller then it is/darken the room.

you have a dark floor so keeping walls light would be better. perhaps just leave walls as is or paint it all in a lighter off-white colour? or maybe even add 2 silver picture frames above it to attract some light.

for modern style, the bedding could be like this one in the picture, great unisex design. just add a patterned pillow. love the one from Ikea called "LAPPLJUNG RUTA" (always sold out at my location. grr)

How about just keeping it the same color, but adding lattice to just that one wall in the same pattern as the headboard? Personally I love playing with texture rather than color, because then you can change the accent color (bedspread) as the mood strikes!

I might keep the wall as is and modify the look through a themed accent color decor and bedding.

What a great headboard and love that the color goes well with almost everything. Here are some ways to brighten up the bedroom:

If on a budget and the wallpaper idea doesn't work for you then maybe you should consider the Martha Stewart precious metal paints. Only $50 gallon and you still get that great look on a budget. They come in lots of colors and can be purchased at Home Depot.

I would draw inspiration from your bedding or accent color. A lighter shade of blue (same color family as the duvet) would be nice while still allowing the room to feel light and airy.

I would keep the wall color and introduce pattern and colors by folding a piece of fabric that you love over the center of the headboard. You could also use a soft rug or small quilt. If the pattern also contains some of the colors you plan to use for solids, for example, the comforter, it will look pulled together.

A dark shade of brown, chocolate or coffee color would look great to me but it entirely depends on your style sense. You can get other colors as well but a darker shade would look better I think. Hope it helps.

Bedding with aqua & teal accents would work. Or painting the wall teal & getting a lighter shade of teal or aqua bedding would also work. The room is neutral enough that you could paint the accent wall any color you liked & pick the bedding accents from that. Or, as suggested, you could find bedding you liked & go from there. Luckily you have many options. Please show us what you decide.
