Yes, it needs a bit of accessorizing, some large scale silk or real plants by the window, some colourful throws and pillows-hits of red would be great in this room. But overall, a wonderful change from the hideous blue furniture! So much lighter and more classic. You've got the great dress, now you just need to accessorize a little.

Elegant already, as I said above, and would add a bit of bling.....some gleam from metal or mirror. Some shine would put it over the top.

I suggest changing your rug and I would replace the small table and lamp with larger ones.

Nice changes. I've never been a fan of blue in the living room or kitchen for some reason, altho our master bedroom and bath are shades of blues, green and white and I love it. So the switch to a more neutral living area seems like a good choice.

Congrats - huge improvement! When budget allows, I would change the area rug as it will make this room even more attractive. And would advise you also lower the painting over the sofa by about 6". Here are some examples of new rugs that would look nice in your space - the first one would pull in the colours in the painting nicely. Good luck from Montreal!

Very nicely done. Lighter colors really improve the room. I agree with other posters that a little pop of color, maybe in an area rug would be an excellent addition.

Or perhaps a couple of brightly colored pillows which are easily and inexpensively changed out.

It's lovely! Can I suggest that you introduce just a little color back into the room by replacing the neutral throw pillows with blue ones. That way the artwork will also tie in to the room nicely.

Looks a little bit like a doctor's waiting room. The dark walls and furniture was too much but eliminating one of them would have been better.

First of all, the room is beautiful! And I know you're not asking for advice....

May I suggest pulling the small sofa forward, closer to the rug? That way you'll create a more intimate setting, and have walking room in front of the windows. Also, pull the small table forward and out from the larger sofa side.

I was told long ago that just because there is a wall, doesn't mean the furniture has to be against the wall.

Again, this is quite a beautiful update!

Beautiful understated elegance. Just a few tweaks I would lower the art to about 6" above the sofa back. I think the lamp is too tall and too thin. Love the new feeling of soft and light.

What a difference! Great job. The monochromatic living room is a complete switch!

I have made a few changes to the family room recently as we did a kitchen renovation. For those who have commented I thought you might like to know that I changed the rug, got lower lamps and side tables as per your suggestions.

Thought I would add that I changed the floors to bring three rooms together as I had three different floor coverings. Has made a huge difference to the feel of the spaces.
