I agree with Gordon's--simple drapery panels to the floor with a Grommet heading would fit the contemporary style of this room/furniture. One long rod over the double windows with a panel at both ends, stacked off the window but covering the frame. The corner window is tricky--not enough stack back room. I'll think about that for a bit and get back.

Here's a photo of a wide window with draperies. For the double windows, I would install the rod close to the ceiling. Have the rod be wider than the window. I suggest 8-14 inches wider on each side. If your budget allows, have the drapery panels be 1.5 widths of fabric each. One width might look skimpy on window of this size. For the single window in the corner, I'd be inclined to not draw attention to it. I might place a tree in that corner to try to partially hide it and distract the eye.

@Dorene McManus I'm no pro but is this height good or higher? What type of rod, color, thickness and ends would be suitable here?

@maqi...Angela makes good suggestions re: size and fullness of fabric. In addition to the width of the windows you have plenty of wall area, therefore you don't need to have the drapes stacked as tightly as in that example, especially if you do the grommet top, which doesn't have pleats, their stack is more open, with less fabric fullness. I agree that a single width of fabric, on windows of this size, would look skimpy. I also, agree with her on the single corner window as well, especially since it's already treated with the roman shade, you need not do anything more.

If you don't do grommet heading I would suggest something simple and streamlined, a plain or relaxed heading on rings, a Euro pleat (tacked at the top) also on rings, a simple rod pocket (no ruffle) or a tailored tap top. Do a search on this site or Google--contemporary window treatments/drapes/curtains.

A minimum height for the rod from the top of the casing is 4", there is no maximum, you could go up 2/3 of the way or all the way. The finish could be dark to bring the eye up and to balance the darkness of the furniture, your fabric selection will help you decide the color, be it black, bronze, dark pewter or a dark wood tone. Keep the rods simple and not oversized, same with the finials, something with a contemporary profile. The drape style and stack back will determine how long the rods should be, if they're adjustable you can play around with it a little, you never want the rods longer than what you need for the drapes. Make sure they are adequately supported so they don't sag.

The room/furnishings feel very contemporary to me with the exception of the 2 slipper chairs, they have a more feminine/formal vibe which you could play up or down with your choice of drapery fabric and perhaps a less heavy looking pillow.

I think that the wall feels incomplete because the shades are a similar color to the wall. Paint the wall to make your shades stand out more. PS - Be careful with those baseboard heaters.

Don't paint it another neutral. Paint it something very different, like a flat (matte) paint of that turquoise you use in your accent pieces.

I'm so confused drape or not to drape?? @Marly I prefer not to paint as I frequently change the color in the accent pieces for a easy update.

You can accomplish the same thing Marly is suggesting with the drapery fabric layer in addition to the shades, with the exception of the corner window which you want to blend in.

Can you center the TV with the fireplace? Spread the room out a bit...is it possible to center the sofa with the window...other sofa closer to the wall...chairs on each side of the fireplace...
