Flo I agree with you about the color of the cabinets. They look more yellow on my monitor, too.

I'd wait on the back splash and decide it once your cabinets and counter tops are in. What you might pick now may not be the best choice once you see your kitchen almost completed.

Thanks. The light was really bad when I was taking the pictures. and I couldn't get an accurate representation of the color. The cabinets are a soft white. Matches almost identically with my Ben Moore White Dove trim.

The success of your pairing of counters with floor will depend on not only the backsplash (which you should definitely wait on) but the floor. As others stated your cabinets are reading very warm and the counters are reading very cool so what will the floor be?

White Dove has yellow undertones to my eye, so I would be quite careful with the combination here. Just a caution so you aren't disappointed when everything comes together and it is too late to make substantial changes.

Wasn't that natural light you were taking the photo in? If anything, interior lighting could make it look even more yellow.

Did a quick look on the internet searching White Dove Undertones and came up with this. As Flo mentions you want to be very careful with your combinations so you aren't disappointed and we find you posting another dilemma regarding it..

If you can choose cabinet color, I would get a sample of SW plain base white paint. That will give you a best pure white. It also helps with comparing so called "off-whites". The off-whites are really hard to deal with because of the undertones. They "tint" the base white paint with a touch of black (for grey undertones; brown for beige soft white; etc.). They look white in a small sample, but when you get a whole wall, the "tint" comes through. With that stone, I would definitely look for a more pure white option if possible. If not, I would go for a gray tone. Otherwise, the color is going to look kind of "old white".

My son owns a natural stone distributorship in Columbia, SC., Ecstatic Stone. I assist him there at times. We have had stones look like that and their names were: Super Classic Venato or Mont Blanc. They are beautiful marbles from Brazil, I believe.

Thanks Josh. The Mont Blanc does look the same. That's what I needed! To the others, I do appreciate your trying to help me with the cabinet/countertop choices, but I made those choices purposefully. The cabinet in real life does look creamy next to the counter, but I actually prefer the first pick below above the next one. Thanks to everyone for your help!

Do you have any concern in regards to maintenance that what you are being told is quartzite might actually be marble? Quartzite is a bit more forgiving than marble. And I've known we've seen dilemmas on here where the stone yard was telling the customer that it was quartzite when it was actually marble. So I just thought I'd mention it if you were unaware.

tedbixby makes a really good point. Quartzite is a harder material but it is also more expensive. I would verify as well. I was thinking that as well so tedbixby beat me to it.

And the pictures you posted hopefully gave you your answer as to what the backsplash should be - none (painted drywall) or same material as counter.

edwards4- that's a good point as that reminded me recently of a dilemma here that the OP had done what Sandie plans to do with the color of cabinet and counter. The OP was having a devil of a time coming up with a backsplash to compliment the two.

Yeah, I think it's going to have to be marble mosaic or just painted drywall for backsplash. Tested a piece they gave me. Treated. Seems impervious to staining, etching. Hope that holds up with diligent sealing. Time will tell!

Hi! I'm back! I'm actually Kathy Cattano but Houzz thinks I'm my son Josh for some reason! You can type in Ecstatic Stone Columbia SC and ES's homesite page comes up. All of the above to say, I'm passing your emails onto Josh but on ES's site there is great chatter regarding marbles, hard marbles, quartzites, etc. We have 2 bundles of Super White and they do not look like this Mont Blanc/ Super Classic Venato such as Sandie has purchased. We actually used the Super Classic Venato in the warehouse on a display counter (but the particular bundle we purchased had veining looking a bit more horizontal). This is a stone we try to keep in stock a it is a winner!) The stone is incredible and has held up well for over two years now, being used daily! Again, the posted picture above of Super White is not the same as the Super White we have. We have bundles of Super White and they are Dolomites, a type of marble. Suppliers often call their stones something that they may not be. We try to be very careful but we understand how hard it can be; the supplier from Brazil or India may give out information that may not be truly accurate.

I meant slab to match counter as backsplash (like your inspiration shot) rather then mosaic. I don't think you will find your quartzite as a tile material (but I may be wrong) so will more than likely be mixing a Marble in which I think is the wrong approach with your active counters. I also question the busyness of the pattern of a tile with your slab (looks more appropriate in the bathroom vanity shot posted earlier). Anyway, it's your budget and kitchen but I think your inspiration shot is the way to go with slab material. That is truly elegant.

And not to beat a dead horse here with my push for slab backsplash but notice the bathroom shot w espresso cabinets that uses (marble) backsplash. It leans heavily darker grey which I question with your cream cabinets. Peace out :)

Hi, Did yu end up going with the monte blanc?

Jumping back on this, so my stone yard is telling me the Chamonix White is marble. and that it is often called quartzite because it has some quartz in the material. I am looking for a good stone, questioning the strength of a marble vs. quartzite. I want to be sure I know what I am getting. Quartzite would be my preference for strength . So is this marble or quartzite?
