Yes.

Steam mop = bad for hardwood. Even the swiffers made for hardwood flooring is considered suspect. Direct spray of cleaning product onto a wood floor is considered a no-no. A lightly dampened mop with the cleaning solution applied to the mop head is the way to go.

Steam can actually "cook" some of the finishes = clouding/hazing of the finish. Most of the time the steam will penetrate between planks and get the wood wet = swelling = eventual deterioration of the wood fibres.

Can a steam mop be used on ceramic tile floors?

Steam is only good for: ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles, glass (mirrors), metal, concrete and stone. So...yes... most ceramic tiles will accept steam.
