Glad you like it, because I've sort of fallen in love with the combination too. Can't imagine who came up with the original scheme, but I think this makes handsome sense of an odd original plan. Sorry I can't tell you exactly what the floor I've shown you is -- I searched for a pic with a combination of dark hardwoods and light grey walls and came up with this. Bring home some samples and see what works with the granite, and if you have the choice, I always prefer a wider plank -- it's just a bit less fussy or dainty looking. And congrats on your new place!

Well I can't better that suggestion, but do think you could play about with some wood stains to get the effect you like on a budget...after purchasing your new house you could spend the cash on some thing you really need rather than re do a good job...

Yeah I will definitely try. Originally I was thinking of pulling up both the granite and light wood and use only dark wood throughout. I didn't think about keeping two different types of floors in the same area.
