thanks for your reply. I wanted minimalist. We are very minimal already so I don't think it should be a problem (I love throwing things away). In a second post ( https://www.houzz.com/discussions/looking-for-feedback-on-kitchen-bathroom-ideas-cont-dsvw-vd~938344) I included the kitchen rendering and two images for context of overall space, which includes a glance at a large component that will separate kitchen/dining and provide lots of storage. I agree about the hanging towel bar (don't like it)--certainly there will be a warmer (we are in Europe). But that leaves a hand towel lost in space. The guest bath will be used only by my son and there is adequate storage behind the mirror and under the basin. I wanted a bench in the main bath and shampoo can be hidden in the corner/not visible.

Both floors are in resin (I do like resin). Likely Corian for the tops. Using paint in the second bath will save some money. I also like the relaxing feel to both baths. The mosaic is bisazzta ( http://www.bisazza.com/), not something I had in mind originally. I did want natural stone, not gres porcelain, but the architects believe it will date the home eventually and the bisazzata (glass) is timeless, which I actually thought was trendier. Too much marble in the baths would likely be to 'heavy'. Also, I did want an overall modern look because of the flat itself. Anything too country or rustic will make it sad. I love classic as well, but modern will work better for this flat. I am wondering if you all actually like these looks?

Here's a link to the Amba towael warmer I would recommend for your space. This one has a slot for a bath towel and a hand towel can fit over the top--or two bath towels with hand towels over these (which is how I use my own). The company is ABP-Beyerle from Germany (though the website is not--I was searching for a photo). Great space you have there!

thanks, very interesting. I haven't seen anything like that before (just sent to the architect!) The hand towel can likely be used there alone (except for guests) as my son does the Italian bathrobe thing; I hate the idea of that hanging in the guest bath and there is no room anyway (perhaps a hanging element inside the shower?)

I think it is Grohe that has a very sleek, simple bathrobe hook--kind of a cube--that could work inside the shower. I have used this in a very tight bath in which it serves as both a towel hook and a pull to swing out a panel to reveal the Bosch washer/dryer behind.

FYI, AMBA, model Elory, also includes a warmer without that cente slot--about half the height. In my own home, we use the shorter one in a guest bath and the taller version with the slot in our master bath. There is a brushed stainless finish, but we have used the shinier version that seems almost like a mirror. These units are programmable from a digital control panel on the right side--so bear that in mind when planning placement. You need to be able to see that control panel for greatest utility.

I LOVE Bizazza - a fabulous and expensive tile offering myriad design choices. Really, you can get some amazing things done--great company, great product. For myself, I think that anything too trendy risks dating a home. Stone is also a timeless material--it is all about how it is used in design.

Something to think about, for your own comfort, is that the concept of "dating" is mostly a result of marketing. Minimalism itself will go "out", just as the pattern overlay of the 1980s country house look did, or Art Deco, or Greek Revival, etc.

Aim for a place with architectural integrity, well thought out design and livability (hugely important and too often ignored in favour of beautiful trends--one CAN have both). Then, regardless of trend, your home speaks of quality--and most importantly of you. Most of us adopt elements of current fashion trends to stay up-to-date, but you won't catch me in jeans that slide down my rear, however trendy that is. Similarly, you can keep your house current with artifacts and interiors that are timeless, perhaps with introducing a few au courrant items.

great advice, thanks so much. I felt the same way about stone, of course! But they believe the bathrooms would definitely be seen as having been remodeled within a certain time period. They love the Bisazza (I just hope I can afford it and any furniture after the remodel!). I do believe some trends -- like whitewashed parquet or black bathrooms -- will end up looking 'dated' or simply be easier to get tired of. I've finally found people I feel comfortable with/trust and have asked for their help because I've seen so many elegant bath ideas it's been difficult to decide on one. I'd hope to get some yays or nays from this community. I am definitely looking for both form and function. Thanks again for your time and recommendations!

Hi again, I am asking for alternative colors. I like relaxing colors like green, but the small bath seems like an operating room/hospital and the larger seems like a restaurant bathroom. I am more or less okay with the materials but it will not be easy to change colors using the light wood. Any suggestions? Grazie mille!
