Reply to: Judging by the samples I'd mostly compare Anzio to something "almost" lightly white washed... It could be the same wood, but they treat it with something to almost bleach it out?? but it still has lighter brown wood tones... I'd imagine more boxes would have more variation and the picture I have shows it really light... I found one installed pic online but it was in darker lighting and it looked a lot darker than my samples. That's why I was so confused by it and made this post! Volpe is a lot of tones... Brown, golden, some blonde wood, caramel... It has some pieces with very light gray tones too... And even some reddish tones! Warm is how I would describe it. And a couple tones/shades darker than Anzio. I also have a lot of light in my house so I could handle going darker. Anzio is maybe more trendy... Modern? Haha I don't know I'm not a designer but with the lighter wood that's what I would call it. They are both beautiful to me. I have a farmhouse style (on an actual farm too) and I love warm and cozy feeling houses so I am pretty happy with Volpe but I would have liked Anzio too. Sorry I'm probably not making it any easier on you!

Reply to: Here are some! A couple I took during install and the others are from today. The main areas are still protected. It is covered at the moment because trim and paint and beams are going in so they're walking all over them and going in and out of the house all day bringing in sand... and I don't want them scratched or dinged by their tools laying all over the place.

Reply to: We are remodelling our kitchen and using the Silestone Eternal calacatta gold for countertops, white shaker cabinets, White 4 x 12 bevelled subway tiles with light gray grout and Bejamin Moore Stonington gray on the walls. Cabinet pulls are brushed nickel. It looks really nice. We used Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter for the rest of the upstairs and it blends really well. It is more of a Griege than a true gray though.

Reply to: Definitely go with Benjamin Moore. I've done lots and lots of painting over the years and Benjamin Moore is far superior in application, durability, overall finish, and color trueness. The Regal line of BM paint is quite nice...I don't think I'd upgrade for that much money...buy a great new sofa with that $2599 instead.

Reply to: This might be late, but if it's Super Spec, maybe see what they'll charge to go up to Regal. My house was professionally painted out completely in Super Spec Barely Beige to put it on the market. It looked ok when we moved in, but it quickly went downhill. Over the course of a few months, the walls were very marked up from day to day use. Forget scrubbing, the paint comes off the wall. When I began repainting, I started to notice that there was fine cracking on the surface. It was probably painted over dirty walls. If you're going to spend the money to have a professional paint, make sure it's good quality paint. The upgrade cost isn't that much, what you're paying for is labor. Don't pay someone to apply inferior paing otherwise, you'll end up paying more to have it all done over, or doing it yourself. Here's something I found online explaining the different levels of paint. It references an even lower level called Super Hide, which didn't apply to what you were asking. "Super Spec is the next step up. Benjamin Moore Super Spec is definitely better than Super Hide. It was developed for commercial uses where cost is a factor and durability or quality isn't as important. Low-end painters will also substitute Super Spec for Regal products, too, and is also something to be wary of. Super Spec comes in flat, eggshell and semi-gloss and can be tinted to any color. The Regal line is Benjamin Moore's premium paint line, and before Aura it was their best. The Regal products built Benjamin Moore into the reputable paint company it is today. And these products do keep changing. Benjamin Moore has reformulated these products numberous times over the years to keep improving them. Overall, the Regal products are fantastic and compare well to any other premium paint brand on the market. Benjamin Moore Regal comes in flat, matte, eggshell, pearl, semi-gloss and high-gloss and can be tinted to any color. Benjamin Moore Matte and Benjamin Moore Eggshell are the most popular interior finishes for walls because they are washable and Benjamin Moore Semi-Gloss is the most popular finish for trim, baseboards and doors. These finishes are also referred to as Regal Flat, Aquavelvet (eggshell), Aquapearl (pearl) and Aquaglo (semi-gloss). Finally, the finest paint Benjamin Moore makes is Aura. Aura is unlike any other paint on the market. Benjamin Moore Aura paint is super-durable, does not require primer, will cover any color in no more than two coats, is low-odor and environmentally friendly and just looks richer for any color. Popular Science dubbed it one of the best new products of 2007. Aura comes in interior matte, eggshell and satin finishes. In the spring of 2008 Benjamin Moore will add an interior semi-gloss and exterior Aura products. With this information you will be better informed about the various paint quality options. Unless you are a builder trying to cut costs, you should use the best paint available. Relative to the overall cost of painting -- selecting your colors, tearing your home apart and living with the inconvenience, and expending the effort or expense of actually painting -- the paint itself is the least expensive part, and the difference between the best can of paint and the cheapest often only amounts to the cost of lunch or dinner one day. So given that on average you will live with the paint in your home for seven years, cutting corners on the paint quality doesn't make much sense."

Reply to: We've redone half the floors in our house, and my husband was fanatical about making sure the subfloor was screwed down enough so it didn't squeak. From what he told me, you're supposed to screw it down approximately every six inches. We did that and our floors are dead silent. I think your problem is that your subfloor needed to be screwed down as nails can come loose.

Reply to: I'm sorry you were not told what to expect in regards to performance of the product. Factory finished engineered wood flooring is problematical for the end user, because of the manner in which it is created and finished. The resulting product put in the marketplace is beautiful in appearance with "a slick and flawless finish." And there is where the problem lies with these products, especially with the fine-grained woods. A wood flooring product that has been given a furniture-like finish and then placed in service is going to show use very quickly...nature of the beast. There is no wild grain or finish "roughness" to hide minor scratches and dents that will occur. Also, generally it is believed that most all engineered flooring is softer than solid and more susceptible to being dented. There is some truth to that. I know this doesn't help you much, but I thought responding with my thoughts might help educate other consumers who are considering these products.

Reply to: @baltik no squeeks at all so far... It's been through fall, winter, spring and our spring has been hot and humid! I also had all the seams in my subfloor sanded before install to ensure levelness since my house was built over winter and was covered in slush several times.

Reply to: Here is a better pic of our Anzio install. We found that the stair nose the vendor sent was significantly darker than the flooring and over 30 days to get a new shipment that may or may not match. So we are having the stair nose refinished locally to match the flooring. Be advised if you plan to use Anzio on stairs and check the stair nose product for matching once it arrives.

Reply to: The reason I liked Anzio in the first place was it was a bit more "brown" and not golden, and lighter. I think that's the biggest difference. I see that in your samples. I do like Anzio a lot!

Reply to: I second MWM's sufgestion of Therma Tru! we bought our because the house faces west & though we have a 9 ft deep porch overhang. We didn't want any issue with the door rotting or warping & chose a Therma Tru Classic-Craft American fiberglass door which looks & feels exactly like wood (includes graining) without all the complications!

Reply to: @nicole tirosh - We got the contractor price for our product. 2925 square feet plus stair nose without sales tax was $21,200. We had demo and install costs on top of that.
