Light gray walls provide a neutral backdrop for this traditional dining room’s inventive use of color. Floral draperies in shades of navy, turquoise and robin’s egg blue are accented by a navy band and hang from gold metal rods with clear glass finials. The light grey ceiling is adorned with a hand-painted design in two-toned metallic gold. A corner cabinet has been given a fresh coat of white paint to match the trim, while the interior is painted aqua showcasing the blue and white porcelain and antiqued mirror accessories adorning the shelves. This elegant space is a study in blues, from the wool rug bearing a floral pattern in shades of light blue, baby blue and navy to the lacquered dining chairs, which have been upholstered in a modern tone-on-tone geometric velvet along with a navy chenille and accented with black nickel nails. The dining table is stained deep espresso and given a high gloss finish. Gold metallic accents on the table provide a touch of glam befitting the crown jewel of the room - a chandelier of clear glass orbs dangling from a gold frame. This is the dining room, I wanted this room to make a statement. The paneling design on the wall was already white, so I decided to paint the walls needlepoint navy. I dressed the window with a white custom drapery and bronze drapery rod. I used a live edge table with white dining chairs. The rug was my inspirational piece for this room, it just brought everything together. The one piece that the customer had to have was cotton, so I accessorized the table with a vase with cotton and brought in a blue table runner and some white dishes.

Kitchen/dining room combo - transitional dark wood floor kitchen/dining room combo idea in Nashville with white walls

Before renovating, this bright and airy family kitchen was small, cramped and dark. The dining room was being used for spillover storage, and there was hardly room for two cooks in the kitchen. By knocking out the wall separating the two rooms, we created a large kitchen space with plenty of storage, space for cooking and baking, and a gathering table for kids and family friends. The dark navy blue cabinets set apart the area for baking, with a deep, bright counter for cooling racks, a tiled niche for the mixer, and pantries dedicated to baking supplies. The space next to the beverage center was used to create a beautiful eat-in dining area with an over-sized pendant and provided a stunning focal point visible from the front entry. We began this beautiful project at the pre-build stage with our clients and managed it from beginning to end. This project is luxury condo living on a golf course. Our client loved all shades of blues, and we incorporated them in each and every room throughout the home. The classy furnishings and cozy decor create a warm, inviting ambiance. At the reveal, the wife shared that "I feel like Barbie, and this is my DREAMHOUSE!"

Almost every room in the house offers stunning views of the outdoor living space and golf course. The dining room is subtly elegant creating an intimate dining space but also a space to enjoy looking outdoors. The custom chairs have a curved back design to contrast with the linear dining table. The host and hostess chairs add texture and Texas chic with their velvet alligator skin fabric. This blue and white dining room, adjacent to a sitting area, occupies a large enclosed porch. The home was newly constructed to feel like it had stood for centuries. The dining porch, which is fully enclosed was built to look like a once open porch area, complete with clapboard walls to mimic the exterior. The 19th Century English farm table is from Ralf's antiques. The Swedish inspired Louis arm chairs, also 19th Century, are French. The solid brass chandelier is an 18th Century piece, once meant for candles, which was hard wired. Motorized grass shades, sisal rugs and limstone floors keep the space fresh and casual despite the pedigree of the pieces. All fabrics are by Schumacher.
