Foodshelf is the innovative response to contemporary home design solutions in which the kitchen and living area become more "fluid" and multifunctional and their characteristics tend to merge.
Like a latest-generation bookshelf, the Foodshelf kitchen - in which the French designer’s creativity of genius and Scavolini’s vast experience combine to perfection - features a "new horizontal linearity". It is centered on a series of wood look shelves that run the entire kitchen and living area length, acquiring different functions at various points (worktop, strip underneath the base units, or as shelves fitted below and above the wall units.)
This design concept also combines base and wall units of different colors, subdividing the kitchen into "graphic" blocks while retaining its modular structure.
For creating innovative compositions, with unusual, attractive chromatic and architectural effects every time.

Client came to us needing help visualizing the desperately needed remodel of her newly acquired, but very outdated La Jolla Condo. Nothing had been done, and soon it became clear it all had to come down to the studs, starting over with new electrical etc. But the view was worth it! The kitchen was small and dark and the space needed to be opened up to take full advantage of the light and the ocean breeze. Once it was clear that the kitchen wall could be removed (minus one post we had to work around), the open space-plan easily fell into place. Dark base TOCCO CONTINO cabinets are grounding the room while the high-gloss white lacquer wall and tall cabinets (LARGO-FG) reflect back the colors of the ocean and blue sky. The large island was very important to the client, knowing her family would sit, work, chat, cook and eat there. Countertops were a mix of pre-fabricated Quartz from LEICHT, and for the island, the focal point, a natural Quartzite brought in the look and feel of a sandy beach. Appliances were a mix of Thermador and Miele, since they were disguised by paneling the fronts.
One challenge was the small and only elevator to the 4th floor, with a staircase equally as narrow… We had to pre-plan all large cabinets, appliances and countertops, to assure delivery into the condo was possible.

Originally built in 1970, this later-model Eichler—designed by architect Claude Oakland—features a distinctive “Model 14” roofline with a clipped gable, a subtle nod to the charm of English thatch-roof cottages.
Acquired from the original owner, the home remained in untouched, original condition—offering a rare opportunity for restoration, but also presenting an urgent need for updates.
Our approach was grounded in respect for Oakland’s original design intent, while thoughtfully incorporating essential upgrades to meet modern building codes and today’s lifestyle expectations.
Eichler homes were originally built using modest, cost-effective materials to make modern architecture accessible to the growing mid-century middle class. While iconic, elements like laminate countertops, particle board cabinetry, and vinyl composition tile flooring haven’t stood the test of time. We carefully replaced these with more durable, high-quality alternatives—granite countertops, maple-ply cabinets, and luxury vinyl tile—ensuring the home remains true to its spirit while standing strong for decades to come.

New sofas are 100% green, with cushions filled with toxin-free natural latex instead of foam, covers made from organic cotton linen, and frames built with only real wood, and nails; no engineered wood products or adhesives. By choosing to acquire furnishings made from solid wood and other natural or eco-friendly materials, as well as hand-hewn, locally-made, small-business and artisan-produced pieces, you not only avoid toxins, but your choice also supports independent manufacturers and artists, reduces your carbon footprint, and you get the pleasure of living in a heart-ful, soul-ful, beauty-filled environment, that is custom-designed to match your lifestyle, your tribe, and you.

The Home
A family heirloom full of warm memories passed down for generations to come greets you after opening the beautiful knotty alder front
door. The rear staircase and separate back entrance allows for multi-generations to share this home.
The Eagles Nest is a place for all to land. The five bedroom, four bath mountain modern plan offers several areas for relaxing and
entertaining. Upon entering, you are welcomed by the warmth of the beams, hickory floors and inviting fireplace. The overall environment gently whispers, “come in, sit down and relax”. The back staircase off the kitchen leads you to a private oasis. The lower level is designed to serve two purposes. It can be a separate living quarter because of its private entrance, or an extension of the house for entertaining.
The open floor plan maximizes square footage for all to enjoy and partake, or for one to find their own quiet space.

The Interior Design
Inspired by nature’s palette and a touch of modern, the Eagles Nest is a calm haven of earth tones and casual elegance. The interior is an inviting blend of subtle neutrals and pops of color, combined with metals, textures, and fine finishes, creating a transitional rustic design. Entertain guests in the large downstairs rec room with a glass of wine at the built-in bar, or take on an opponent with a game of foosball.
The homeowners joined forces with Caprice King at Upstage Furniture Consignments to paint the pallet of the home. Caprice King staged the home with additional furnishings and accessories, lending the home a designer’s touch while utilizing her spatial expertise and attention to detail.

This original 1970's master bedroom suite was transformed into a very exciting and unique southwestern design. In the Master bath we chose a double slipper copper tub, saguaro cactus for the vanity bases with custom copper sinks, and a parota wood slab for the counter and back splash acquired in Mexico by Casa Mexicana Imports. Artobrick wall tiles were designed with hand picked colors and patterns. The barn door for closing the space between bedroom and bath was antique Mexican paneled door we upholstered bathroom view side with a Sunbrella fabric Pendleton design and framed it in leather. The Adobe fireplace and custom shelf unit in the master bedroom were added,
Custom paint for the walls in the bath and the Master bedroom ceilings. Hickory wood flooring was used for the bedroom, which tied in well with the natural saguaro cactus wood tones.

This 1920’s brick colonial had over thirty years of deferred maintenance when the current owners acquired the property. An extensive remodel saw the structure taken down to the studs and seismically retrofitted. During construction the house was insulated and the electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems were replaced.

Upon acquiring the property, the homeowner faced a compact backyard dominated by a neglected lawn that offered little usability. The ambition was not only to enhance the outdoor space's utility but to inject it with vibrant aesthetics and dynamism through the hardscape. To bring this vision to life, we embraced a palette of colorful materials, choosing multicolored concrete, pavers, and tiles that introduce a playful yet sophisticated charm. Further creativity was applied in the design through the use of curvy lines that flow organically throughout the space, leading the eye and inviting movement. Beach rocks were thoughtfully embedded into decorative bands, adding a tactile and visual texture that complements the curvilinear approach. This strategic combination of color, texture, and form transformed the backyard into a visually stimulating and highly functional outdoor living area.

We acquired an old Victorian home in need of complete rehab and set out to be respectful of the historical nature and aesthetic of the home while nudging it forward in a modern, somewhat eclectic, way. Since nearly all of the original details except the floors and a beautiful stair were removed by previous owners, we felt free to use materials and finishes that spoke to the homes history but are decidedly current. The result, a light-filled and colorful home with interesting details in every room, speaks to our aesthetic and design direction.

This was intended to be the formal living room, but we didn't need that space. My husband acquired this stunning reclaimed barn wood and we instantly knew this room needed a 12 foot farmable. So he built one. We installed all the perfect lighting and finishing touches to make this probably the most inviting, cozy dining room you'll find! We love it!

The existing kitchen in this turn-of-the-century (c. 1901) home in Newton, MA was in dire need of updating when the owners acquired it for their family of four. They wanted to both enlarge it and open it up to an existing adjacent dining space that they planned to transform into a family sitting area.
In the spirit of the home’s original classical columns and detailing, we introduced short Doric columns on half-walls to shape a new opening between the former dining space, now family room, and the kitchen. The white inset kitchen-cabinetry and white marble counter were chosen for both their vintage appeal and clean, contemporary palette. To further improve function a half-bath was tucked in off the family room and a 12’ x 12’ mud room was added to the back of the kitchen.

"After looking for a simple but attractive wood grain desk for many months, I decided to go a different route. A check of online suppliers quickly took me to Hardwood-Lumber.com. With a generous variety of hardwoods and overall outstanding reviews, I ordered my Brazilian Cherry wood top with full confidence. I ordered a beautiful pair of metal powder-coated decorative legs from Etsy. The table top was delivered within the promised time (around 6 weeks), and the legs went on perfectly. We did have to dig a little to determine we needed to acquire and screw in metal stabilizing bars to prevent future warping, but overall that was not terribly significant. The wood top is gorgeous, and we are thoroughly enjoying a magnificent desk. Hardwood-Lumber is a great source for wood countertops." Albert
