In this garage remodel we installed new SPC floors which are 100% waterproof and scratch resistant. We designed and install new semi-custom shaker style white cabinets, custom oak shelves and a beautiful Italian porcelain backsplash. An Ohio family in search of a place to enjoy the Portuguese coast acquired a four-bedroom apartment just outside the center of Cascais. Our studio was engaged to turn a compartmented interior into a holiday residence for a household that gathers in numbers: one that could seat everyone at once and still hold the ease and lightness of a home by the beach. The original plan included a kitchen and laundry room sealed off from the living room, floor finishes and levels that changed from threshold to threshold, and bathrooms in varying styles. Work began by redefining the alignments and circulation. The principal transformation was the opening of the kitchen, creating a more generous social setting centered on a bespoke island fitted with storage and seating. The interior takes its cues from the building’s geometric façade, which projects and recedes in volumes and voids. Bespoke joinery in oak and lacquer carries continuity and order through the apartment. Concealed storage runs throughout: at the entrance, in the dining area, along the living area, and beneath built-in benches. The laundry is merged into the kitchen behind perforated doors for ventilation while keeping the service area discreet. Behind the sofa, a console slips a workspace into the living area without conceding its openness. Curved elements answer the rectilinear architecture; artisanal glazed vertical tiles repeat from the backsplashes onto custom side tables. The palette stays deliberately narrow; the muted oak and lacquer are joined by a softened timber floor, Portuguese Lioz stone, and walls painted to the color of bare plaster. Existing doors and baseboards were repainted in a warm light gray that draws the original elements into the language of the new interior. Upholstery and decorative accents hint at the terracotta, sky blue, and yellow of the façade. The bedrooms are set with upholstered headboards on oak frames, bedside tables that extend those outlines, and wardrobes fit for a long stay. Locally made rugs, bedcovers, and throw pillows soften the composition. In the bathrooms, the plans were reorganized and the showers enlarged. Lioz was used for the counters and sinks, shelves, shower bases, and bathtub surround, with microcement bringing a soothing warmth to the walls, and storage in floating cabinets. Deeper in tone than the rest of the apartment yet never dim, they are quietly elegant rooms made for lingering — taking one’s time getting ready, or unwinding at the end of a day. An old Jain artwork with extremely detailed narrative scenes is part of a Park Avenue home in New York. Such artworks take years to find and acquire. Rare and extremely artsy. The condition of the paper is usually not good but the loss is compensated by the jewel-like natural pigments used in the painting. Suits the well-traveled, well-read new owner.

Upon acquiring the property, the homeowner faced a compact backyard dominated by a neglected lawn that offered little usability. The ambition was not only to enhance the outdoor space's utility but to inject it with vibrant aesthetics and dynamism through the hardscape. To bring this vision to life, we embraced a palette of colorful materials, choosing multicolored concrete, pavers, and tiles that introduce a playful yet sophisticated charm. Further creativity was applied in the design through the use of curvy lines that flow organically throughout the space, leading the eye and inviting movement. Beach rocks were thoughtfully embedded into decorative bands, adding a tactile and visual texture that complements the curvilinear approach. This strategic combination of color, texture, and form transformed the backyard into a visually stimulating and highly functional outdoor living area.

This home was built in the 70's and as you can imagine has acquired a few "ailments" over the past 40 years, one of the more serious being the deterioration of the front entrance. The brick started to loosen over the years and eventually started to break apart completely, it got to the point that the family could not use the front entrance at all due to the safety hazard it represented. After interviewing with several contractors the home owners contacted David Sharp with DSLD Land Management and he was able to ease the tension and offer a solution that not only resulted in a beautifully restored front entrance but that also fit comfortably into their budget. The project took less than a week to complete and as you can imagine the home owners are thrilled with the final product!

This original 1970's master bedroom suite was transformed into a very exciting and unique southwestern design. In the Master bath we chose a double slipper copper tub, saguaro cactus for the vanity bases with custom copper sinks, and a parota wood slab for the counter and back splash acquired in Mexico by Casa Mexicana Imports. Artobrick wall tiles were designed with hand picked colors and patterns. The barn door for closing the space between bedroom and bath was antique Mexican paneled door we upholstered bathroom view side with a Sunbrella fabric Pendleton design and framed it in leather. The Adobe fireplace and custom shelf unit in the master bedroom were added, Custom paint for the walls in the bath and the Master bedroom ceilings. Hickory wood flooring was used for the bedroom, which tied in well with the natural saguaro cactus wood tones.

Custom Floors helped select, acquire and install all Tile, Wood, and wall to wall Carpet products in the Wedgewood Building Companyhomes, and Williams Custom Art Builders home. IF YOU TRULY KNOW HOW TO DRAW AND PAINT, YOU CAN PAINT ANY SUBJECT MATTER AND BE COMFORTABLE DOING IT. YOUR WISH IS MY DESIRE. A client, you also happens to be a dear friend, called and asked if I could paint one of the Star Trek space ships. He was renovating his in-home theatre room and wanted a Star Trek Theme. I forgot the exact name of this particular star ship, (you Trekkies out there will know the one), it is one of the newer ones. He told me of his new project, which was this Space Ship to be painted as if he were looking out of the viewing window of his own Space Ship, into deep space, at this newer spectacular Space Ship. I had not painted deep space before, nor had I even painted a Star Ship Enterprise! However, it was quite fun and there were design challenges I had to solve. One of the challenges was the large immobile cabinet which held special equipment for movies and sound. I had to "skinny" a ladder in between the cabinet and the wall that I needed to paint. Then the question was how to get in there and paint! (Gymnastics were employed, ... wish I had a video to watch the re-runs of that scene! lol) (The Star Ship Mural was the first step in his renovations, so these photos still have drop cloths on the floor and painting "stuff".) As with every new commission, I learned all kinds of wonderful things. I had to acquire photos of Quazars, and Black Holes, and Milky Ways. Charting out where and how to paint them into deep space... which is B-L-A-C-K! .....But, is it????? Want to know what colours make deep space? The outdoor space was transformed from a red cedar, red tile, plastic roof pergola, to an more expansive outdoor dining space. The pergola was constructed of 8x 8 cedar posts, a tongue and groove ceiling, and a cedar privacy screen that incorporated the homeowner's ironwork they had acquired from the Middle East. All the cedar was whitewashed, including the ceiling as a contrast to the traditional red brick home. The red tiles were replaced with 18 x 18 slate tiles. Brick columns were constructed and wired for new post lighting. The ornate railing was designed to compliment the ironwork in the pergola.
