The pool features a custom black granite liner with black basalt bullnose coping which contrasts beautifully with the acid washed concrete deck. The architectural stamped concrete is dusted with black aggregate speckles which twinkle in the sun. The minimal saw cuts in the deck enhance the clean look as does the horizontal plank fence of Ipe Brazilian hardwood.

As nightfall beckons, one must decide between the sheltered comfort of the cabana fireplace or the dancing flames of the fire table under starlit skies. The pool’s seven LED lights ensure a soft even glow while the soothing sounds of the wall-mounted sheer descent waterfall add a final calming touch.

A conceptual framework of long, straight lines anchors the landscape design for this proposed contemporary house set in a rural wetland environment. Against this datum, the site’s subtleties reveal themselves for interpretation and appreciation. The iconic element of a strong axial grass ‘runway’ serves both as a horizontal extrusion against which to read the natural topography and also as a platform for viewing the site’s wetlands. A monolithic retaining wall stratifies the entry area into a lower, private parking court and an upper, public one, which is further defined by a series of rough-hewn stone planters containing formal plantings of dogwoods. These planters break the plane of the retaining wall and extend to the ground, alluding to the substantial bedrock deposits that underlie much of the site. There is a four foot infinity edge water feature pouring into the pool. A lazy river water feature made out of moss boulders also falls over the pool's edge adding a pleasant, natural running water sound to the surroundings. The pool deck is exposed aggregate. Seat bench walls and the exterior of the hot tub made of moss rock veneer and capped with flagstone. The coping was custom fabricated on site out of flagstone. Retaining walls were installed to border the softscape pictured. We also installed an outdoor kitchen and pergola next to the home.
