We are pleased to announce our project has been awarded the 2016 Best Kitchen Renovation under $25,000 by the Home Builders Association of Metro Harrisburg! Kitchen designed by Tracy West, project installed by Robert Sykora, and photos by Elliot Quintin. Jack and Ellen of Red Lion, PA chose a flat panel contemporary door style. The bar hardware complements the cabinets and appliances perfectly. The smoked glass backsplash is a perfect fit. The red glass accent line gives the space an elegant pop of color. Jack and Ellen added their red accessories finalizing the Wow Factor! This space received a total make over including DeWils cabinetry, Alterna flooring and Interceramic backsplash. Cambria quartz countertops and a functional farm sink complete the look.

This outdoor space featured impressive architectural bones, anchored by a fireplace that naturally demanded attention as the primary focal point. However, the area lacked the essential furnishings, warmth, and cohesion required to function as a truly comfortable gathering spot. Our design goal was to create a functional seating arrangement for six while establishing a welcoming, inviting atmosphere through layered textures and intentional accessories. A unique aspect of this project was the client’s firm preference for metal outdoor furniture, which they preferred to source locally. We embraced this as a collaborative opportunity; I provided expert guidance on furniture selection and precise sizing to ensure the layout flowed exactly as envisioned, blending their choices seamlessly into the design. To ground the seating arrangement and soften the surrounding hard surfaces, we selected an outdoor rug in warm brown and gold tones. This addition introduced immediate visual warmth and clearly defined the conversation area. Finally, we incorporated accent pillows in soft cream and rich indigo blue to provide a sophisticated contrast that intentionally echoes the home's surroundings. We are delighted to announce that this outdoor retreat was honored with 2nd Place in the People's Choice Awards for Outdoor Spaces. Our client fell in love with the original 80s style of this house. However, no part of it had been updated since it was built in 1981. Both the style and structure of the home needed to be drastically updated to turn this house into our client’s dream modern home. We are also excited to announce that this renovation has transformed this 80s house into a multiple award-winning home, including a major award for Renovator of the Year from the Vancouver Island Building Excellence Awards. The original layout for this home was certainly unique. In addition, there was wall-to-wall carpeting (even in the bathroom!) and a poorly maintained exterior. There were several goals for the Modern Revival home. A new covered parking area, a more appropriate front entry, and a revised layout were all necessary. Therefore, it needed to have square footage added on as well as a complete interior renovation. One of the client’s key goals was to revive the modern 80s style that she grew up loving. Alfresco Living Design and A. Willie Design worked with Made to Last to help the client find creative solutions to their goals.

Inspiration for a contemporary formal medium tone wood floor living room remodel in Calgary

This very unique kitchen design contains two islands and kitchen on the perimeter of the room. This kitchen was separated into smaller kitchen and eating area that with this new design , we merged into one big kitchen. We also opened up the kitchen to the adjacent living room creating one open concept which greatly contributing to clients desired purpose. We removed the load bearing post that separated the kitchen from eating area as well as the main load bearing wall between the kitchen and living room creating the opening over 10 feet wide. This kitchen also incorporated the dogs crate as the owner is a dog trainer and needed to be a part of this kitchen. The smaller island has waterfalls as well as decorative high gloss macassar ebony panel at the back. This is a working island where small bar sink and faucet allow this surface to be used as an additional preparation surface. The bigger island has an overhang for 4 counter stools and in housing the beverage/wine fridge and book shelf which finishes of the end of the island Two big pendant lights are finishing the look of the big island.
