The owner of an insurance office in Auburn Hills came to Horizon Interior Design looking to inject some new life into their office interiors to create an inviting space for guests and employees alike. They wanted to replace all the old carpeting, repaint the walls, incorporate new furniture and décor for the waiting conference rooms, and stay on brand with deep blues and yellow/gold accent colors. Ultimately, they wanted a space where clients would feel extremely comfortable as if they were in their own living room at home! To create a cozy yet modern feel to this commercial office while staying true to their brand, we selected contemporary carpeting in a dark navy and gray, painted the walls with a deep royal blue, and added pops of gold and yellow with beautiful wall art and décor. These changes completely transformed the look and feel of this commercial office, but we weren’t done yet! To create a super comfortable, welcoming, and warm waiting room and conference room, we added relaxing chairs in a range of fun patterns and table lamps for ambient lighting - all working seamlessly with our paint colors, décor, and wall art choices. This small studio has everything! It includes apartment size small white appliances, stunning colors (Diamond Cloud Gray cabinets), and great storage solutions! Besides the beauty of the turquoise backsplash and clean lines this small space is extremely functional! Warm wood boxes were custom made to house all of the cooking essentials in arms reach. The cabinets flow completely to the ceiling to allow for every inch of storage space to be used. Grey cabinets are even above the kitchen window. This fabulous great room boasts extremely large windows to bring the gorgeous exterior views into the home. In order to preserve the views, we opted for motorized solar shades which are virtually hidden from view when they are not in use. This client's favorite color is purple, so we were happy to incorporate that into our overall color scheme, blending it with neutral taupe and gray. The overall feel that was achieved is a house that is a relaxed and comfortable cliff-side retreat, without having any sacrifice of sophistication or luxury. Our clients came to us looking to remodel their condo. They wanted to use this second space as a studio for their parents and guests when they came to visit. Our client found the space to be extremely outdated and wanted to complete a remodel, including new plumbing and electrical. The condo is in an Art-Deco building and the owners wanted to stay with the same style. The cabinet doors in the kitchen were reclaimed wood from a salvage yard. In the bathroom we kept a classic, clean design.

As written in Northern Home & Cottage by Elizabeth Edwards In general, Bryan and Connie Rellinger loved the charm of the old cottage they purchased on a Crooked Lake peninsula, north of Petoskey. Specifically, however, the presence of a live-well in the kitchen (a huge cement basin with running water for keeping fish alive was right in the kitchen entryway, seriously), rickety staircase and green shag carpet, not so much. An extreme renovation was the only solution. The downside? The rebuild would have to fit into the smallish nonconforming footprint. The upside? That footprint was built when folks could place a building close enough to the water to feel like they could dive in from the house. Ahhh... Stephanie Baldwin of Edgewater Design helped the Rellingers come up with a timeless cottage design that breathes efficiency into every nook and cranny. It also expresses the synergy of Bryan, Connie and Stephanie, who emailed each other links to products they liked throughout the building process. That teamwork resulted in an interior that sports a young take on classic cottage. Highlights include a brass sink and light fixtures, coffered ceilings with wide beadboard planks, leathered granite kitchen counters and a way-cool floor made of American chestnut planks from an old barn. Thanks to an abundant use of windows that deliver a grand view of Crooked Lake, the home feels airy and much larger than it is. Bryan and Connie also love how well the layout functions for their family - especially when they are entertaining. The kids' bedrooms are off a large landing at the top of the stairs - roomy enough to double as an entertainment room. When the adults are enjoying cocktail hour or a dinner party downstairs, they can pull a sliding door across the kitchen/great room area to seal it off from the kids' ruckus upstairs (or vice versa!).
